OFFICIAL PAPER OF THE CITY OF KLAMATH FALLS "Let us have faith that right makes might, and , in that jaith let us to the end dare to do our duty as we understand it" Abraham Lincoln The First Rows of Summer! THE RIGHT HAND OF FELLOWSHIP The right hand of fellowship is extended to the people of Klamath County by the merchants and professional interests of Klamath Falls. Grasp it. Feel the strength of its sincerity and eagerness to satisfy learn of its actions to moulding this our community into a greater and more enterprising community. It's that right hand of fellowship, of welcome, of ambition, of co-operation, which has done so much in contributing to the welfare of our fair town and county. Think back a few years. Note the many public and private improvements that have been made since then as a drect result of local enterprise. What motive has prompted those enterprising merchants and professional men? Certainly not sel fishness. It is a fact not to be forgotten those who have contributed did it for the purpose of adding to your convenience or your pleasure. Yes to con tribute good fellowship and good will. Of course, these community betterments and' im provements were not made without faith and sacri fice on the part of our business and professional in terests. Quite often, we all know, they came forward with financial aid when they could least afford it. And yet, they did it, and are doing it, with a gener ous heart and cheerful smile. That's the spirit that has made Klamath Falls and Klamath County so progressive. And all these interests ask in return is your co operation in building an even brighter future for this community. Patronize the home merchants do not violate that faith they have placed in you. Buy at home and help build a bigger, better place in which to live. The right hand of fellowship has long been ex tendedlet's grasp it feelingly and in sincerity. o . SALVAGE VALUE OF OLD ROADS A recent report on the salvage value of old roads, prepared from the records of the New York High way Department, shows the average cost per mile of reconstruction, complete contracts 1919 to 1924 in clusive, to be $36,000 for first class Portland cement concrete and for asphalt macadam for same period, $16,000. This reconstruction which from now on will be the most important work in New York State, covers the rebuilding, to whatever extent is neces sary, of the older roads now worn out or become oth erwise so unfit as to make their replacement a job large enough to be placed under contract. It is ex pected that a finished reconstruction contract will leave a road in first class condition to sustain tha traffic it will attract. The $20,000 difference in re construction cost measures the value of the salvage possibilities of the prevjous work in connection with the asphalt macadam types. The 1925 lettings show aDout $zi,uuu per mile dmerence in such work. ! - 1 later "but Mrs no tsr worm husbendt? Mora la a letter from a wife who iiA , crying flr.t. Hut.
