Indian hospitals will h? construct
ed during the coming fiscal year,
according to an announcement to
cay by the Interior department.
The construction will include:
Klamath reservation. Oregon. 40
bed general hospital. $25,000.
Pyramid Lake. New. new ho.-pital
and retons'ruction of present in
stitution 130. 00.
Fort Peck. Mont., 2 4 bed hos
pital. $25,000.
Fort Lapwai. Idaho, additional
structure to care for 50 patients.
Fred A. Baker, superintendent
of the Klamath Indian reservation
stated yesterday that construction
of a suitable hospital for the care
of ailing Indians to be located at
the Klamath Agency, had been un
der consideration for aome time,
and following the announcement
from Washington, actual construc
tion would probably be under way
by the middle of the summer,
j The institution will take care of
all reservation needs and on com
pletion It will not be necessary to
send Indian patients to the Klamath
; Falls hospitals as has been done
alway. In the past. The new Insti
tution will be operated under the
supervision of a government doctor
and every feature of a modern
hrpital of its class will he pro
vided. The actual design of the
htiilding and the arrangement will
he settled upon at once and recom
mendations forewarded to Wash
ington promptly in order that the
least possible time he lost in com
pleting the new institution.
