The bride Is the daughter of Mrs. Myrtis Williams of Weed and W. S. W illiams, Glen Ellen. Okla. She wore for her wedding a street length dress of p I n k satin and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and pink ros es. Attendants for the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wil liams, Weed, brother and sister-in-law of the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Best of Garden Grove. Mrs. Myrtis Williams was hostess at her home for the re ception following the church rites. Hugh Smellie, M.D., and Pam ela Brincklow, S.B.N., con cerned w ith the problem of de composition of cut flowers which "occupy an e s s c n t i al place in hospital wards" found that adding phisohcx to the wa ter, "delays decomposition with its unpleasant odor, prolongs the life of the blooms, and obvi atcs the necessity for changing the water." No toxic or other adverse effect on the blooms was noted. Tliis is a brand new use for phisohcx in hospitals where heretofore it had been confined to surgery and the nursery to prevent bacterial infections. The younger Richardson is assistant manager of F. W. Woolworth Company in Medford. Census Bureau Helps Women Know Ages Breathes there a woman with a soul so dead, She to herself has not at sometime said, "I'm only as old as I look, as young as I feel, So the year of my birth I'll forever conceal." Eve couldn't get away with it. Adam knew when that rib went to form his helpmate, but the daughters of Eve through the centuries have not hesitated to place tlieir ages at the lowest figure they thought would be credible. False ages have never been considered even "little white lies," but rather a means of survival, a woman's preroga tive in her pursuit of happiness. Up until a quarter of a cen tury ago only in-rare cases was it necessary for a woman to re veal her true age and to have proof of it. Perhaps only when her tombstone was inscribed with her birthdatc would the world know exactly how old she was. And then it wouldn't mat ter. However, w ith .the coming of Social Security, Old Age Assist ance, and pension plans, wom en in the United States arc find ing they must have acceptable proof of age. Of course, a birth certificate will do (lie job per fectly, but what if you were born in a stale before birth reg istrations wore mandatory there? Pennsylvania did not re quire birth registration until 1!K)6; Nevada and Idaho, 1911; Illinois. 1916: and New Slexico, 1920. Or what if the busy coun try doctor didn't get around to making the important official record of your birth? Or may be the courthouse and its rec ords were destroyed by fire, flood, or tornado. In other words, what if you can't prove you were born, much less how old you are? Don't despair. You arc one of an estimated 20 million United States residents who arc with out proof of age or birthplace, one whom Uncle Sam's Buceau of the Census is ready to try to help as it did 244.000 people last year who needed to prove where and when they were born. If you are loo young to be concerned about old age bene fits, you might need proof of citizenship for a passport, for voting, and for some jobs car rying citizenship requirements. In some cases proof of relation ship is necessary to inherit a rightful legacy. If you were living in the United States on the dale the census was taken in any of (hose census years, there will be recorded your name, your age at those cen suses', your birthplace I except in the 1980 Census', and your relationship to the head of the household where you were enu merated. McKinney PTA NEWS RIVERSIDE SCHOOL Family counseling and child therapy was the topic for Mil dred Lowden, guest speaker from the Klamath County Men tal Health Clinic, at the River side School PTA meeting on Oct. 15. She explained the new approaches in treatment of chil dren with emotional problems. Following her talk, the speak er answered questions from the floor. The regular business of the meeting was conducted and the budget was approved for the year.
