Well, the reason my son went to jail is because another mother let her 14 - year old daughter run w ild, litis girl did not have to he home at any specific hour. She could go out with anyone, any age, any w here. When I learned my son was dating a 14-year-old girl 1 phoned her mother and begged her to keep this over - se.ed child at home. I was told she had always been a problem, and that they could do nothing with lier. When the girt became preg nant my son was charged with carnal knowledge and found guilty. So please. Ann, advise par ens who can't control their daughters to send them to de tention homes so the hoys will be safe. Dear Ann Landers: A very good friend of mine is a great talker. She can report a trivial incident and can make it sotmd like the most earth-moving epic of all times. He is the 14-year-old boy who has learned the most important les son of life self-discipline. I saw one boy go from had lo worse, even with the besl guid ance. Why? Because he wal lowed in self-pity. He was told he had a miserable childhood, stupid parents and was not taught the proper values. It never occurred to the boy that he could leach himself anything. I know of another young tier son who had a far more turbu lent life. He lived in orphan ages, went through juvenile courts even jail. This boy will soon be getting his high school diploma through the mails. Then he plans to go onto col lege. He holds a jnh and is making his way with no out side financial help. I hope Bennie and oili er young people will continue In leach themselves the things they failed to learn from their' parents. 1 concede, of course, that it's not so easy as blam ing the world for our failures but it Is immensely rewarding. Henry Wade, who will prose cute Jack Ituby for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, has es caped criticism by his peers for violating ethics in statements to news media. Defense attorney Tom How ard, however, apparently was still in hot water with the Tex as Bar Association. The two appeared before a grievance committee of the Texas Bar Association Thurs day night. Wayne O. Woodruff, chairman of the committee, said the closed-door meeting was lo check for violation of Canon 17 of the bars code of ethics. He defined the canon as pro hibiting inlerviewj concerning pending or anticipated cases. Violation can mean a repri mand, loss of license or disbar ment. A terse statement released after the meeting made it clear Wade was off the hook and said he had only been there as an invited witness.
