through a winless league cam
paign residing in the basement
with a 0-14 record and posted
an overall season mark of 3-16.
Potentially, the Trojans could
better this set of marks consid

The Trojans have the tenth
ranked league scorer returning
in 6-1 senior Pete Krok.
A fine ball player of whom
Cariaga says ". . . a real
hard driver, with good moves."
Krok paced the Trojans last
year with a league scoring to
tal of 179 points for a per game
average of 12.8. He's a two-year
veteran who goes either at for
ward or guard.
Another two-year man figured
to help the Trojan cause is sen
ior guard Marv Davis, standing
5-7.
Davis hit for 4 points in 11
games for a 7.6 average last
year, with his good outside
work. "He has a good eye and
moves well," Cariaga offers.
The Trojans counted a total
turnout of 20 for the varsity
ranks, w ith six lettermen in this
number.
Top board work is expected
from one-year veteran Chuck
Malani (5-9 a senior forward.
Three other one-year vets are
sophomore standout Jim Korsen
at 6-0 and a forward post; Rick

after the first weekend of the
collegiate basketball season, put
their records on the line tonight
and Saturday night.
The Beavers face University
of British Columbia tonight and
Washington Saturday night at
Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, while
Portland plays a two-night
stand at San Jose State.
Oregon, which lost two games
to Stanford last weekend, is idle
until Monday, when it takes on
Washington at Eugene.
Oregon State is expected to
have an easy time with UBC
tonight, but Washington showed
its ability by wihipping Texas
Western in an opener last week

tied with 9-3 records; St. Louis
is close behind with 8-4. A
Giants victory coupled with a
Cleveland loss at Detroit would
assure New York of at least a
tie for first place at the close
of the regular season. However,
setbacks by the Giants and
Browns coupled with a Cardi
nals' victory would put all
three clubs back into a tie.
In Sunday's two other games,
the Dallas Cowboys (3-9 are at
home against the Pittsburgh
Steclers 6-3-3) and the Balti
more Colts (6-6) play at home
against the Minnesota Vikings
