DENNIS THE MENACE This Gal Doesn't Need Any Advice By ANN LANDERS Dear Ann Landers: You were very helpful to me four years ago when I wrote about my problem. At that time I had just lost all my teeth and wanted to know if I slwuld enter college in spite of the fact that a Ri im deformity made it almost impossible to wear dentures. You said to go, and I took your advice. It worked out well. My present problem is that I am now divorced from an irre sponsible no good I foolishly married while a junior in col lege. I, like so many other young idiots thought I could reform him. I tried a reconcili ation three times, without suc cess. During the last reconciliation I became pregnant. I filed suit for divorce without knowing my condition and decided to go through with it. I'm now a grad uate student and am dating some interesting young men. They know all about me and my condition. I'm in my eighth month of pregnancy and my fa vorite boy friend wants me to go to a formal dinner-dance in a couple of weeks. I feel fine and would like to go if y o u think it would be proper. Please advise. UNDECIDED Dear Undecided: Any girl who is toothless and In her eighth month and can slill gel dates doesn't need any advice from anybody. You're doing fine. Good luck. Dear Ann Landers: Cheers and congratulations to the writ er who posted on his door the message: "If you are uninvit ed and unexpected, you are msu uimviiuuic. 4 man i iiuu the guts to do it. Heaven knows how many times I've been zinging away at my typewriter at long last after several days of stop and - go attempts only to be dropped in on by friends who say they can stay only 15 min utes. Two hours later they are still hanging around making with the small talk while I si lently scream myself to death. By the time they leave I'm exhausted and furious and The tireat Idea has fled. If I kept a gun in the house I'm sure one day I would be hanged for murder. SITTING DUCK. Dear Ducky: Feeling as you do it's just as well that you have no gun. But if there were 12 writers on the jury, you'd be found not guilty. Dear Ann Landers: I'm only 14 but I know what I'm talking about. That 18-year-old girl who is scared to death that her father will remarry is just too selfish for words. My father and mother were divorced six years ago. My mother was mentally disturbed and impossible to live with. The court awarded me to my father. Three years ago my father remarried. He has never been so happy and the same goes for me. When I think of the dif ference in our lives it is like a fairy tale come true. I'll guarantee you that when that 18-year-old girl falls in love and wants to get married she won't give a second thought to whether her dad is lonely or not she'll leave. Now that he shows signs of wanting to make a new life for himself she should encourage him to go ahead. I'm glad I did and I was only 11 at that time. - MISS EXPERI ENCE Dear Miss: You've got a smart head on those young shoulders. Thank you for shar ing wisdom far beyond your years. South was an expert and North a beginner, so South opened with a somewhat un sound three no-trump. He wjs accustomed to underbid ding from North, but this time North took full action and leaped to six hearts. Expert South wasn't going to let North play theliand so he went on to six no-trump. When South looked at the dummy he rather wished that he had worked his way into six spades. At six spades South could win the opening spade in dummy, lead a club to his ace, ruff a club, return to his hand with a second trump, ruff an other club, get back to his hand with the ace of hearts, discard dummy's diamonds on his 1 a s t two trumps, and make an easy seven. South did even better. He won the first spade in dummy and promptly led a diamond. East played low and South rose w ith the king. At this point West could have taken the ace and given his partner four diamond tricks, but West had other ideas. It never occurred to him that South did not hold the queen of diamonds back of the king, and West played low on that first dia mond as if he had no problem at all. Now South cashed his spades and all dummy's hearts. Every one had to come down to two cards. South held the ace and ten of clubs while W e s t blanked his king of clubs in order to keep his ace of dia monds. The king of clubs fell under the ace and South made seven no-trump for a real top score. You'll learn how to bid in a duplicate game with a copy of "Win at Bridge With Oswald Jacoby."
