PAGE-iC HERALD AND Iloliby Leads To Love Triangle By ANN LANDERS , Dear Ann Landers: That let ter from "Married To A Ham" should not be taken lightly. You f -" , i suggested Uiat ' the wile sliould get interested in the hobby, too. I knew of a fellow who taught his wife to operate his ham radio and M almost broke up two marriages. Mrs. V. started a cozy little talk-romance with a guy from Enid, Okla. They began to mail pictures back and forth. The next thing anybody knew, Mrs. Y. took off for Enid. A few weeks later, the guy from Enid came up to see Mrs. Y. ' These two psycho ceramics (crackpots) spent four whole days together "getting ac quainted," (hey said. : Fortunately, no divorces took place. The people involved fin ally got squared away with the help of a couple of clergymen. So you can see, Ann, women don't really belong in the ham radio field. It should be strictly for men. AGAINST HALF. BAKED LADY HAMS. Dear Half-Baked: You forget that hall of this goofy twosome was a man. Character! like Mrs. Y. and Mr. Enid could have met on a street car, so don't blame the hobby. Dear Ann Landers: Recently I went into one of the finest de partment stores in the city. A clock which I had purchased there several months ago need ed repair. I encountered a line of seven people ahead of me at the repair desk. . There was only one girl on . duty and that flea brain couldn't have cared less about the custo mers. She was busily engaged in a telephone conversation with her boy friend. Her back was turned toward the customers but the conversation was audible to everyone within 10 feet. , The girl was on the phone for exactly 12 minutes, by my watch. Three customers were angry enough to leave. 1 wailed. It took me 22 minutes to drop off that clock. ; My husband who was waiting outside was fit to bo tied. What would you have done? ONLY ," HUMAN Doar Only! After walling 9 minutes for the girl to get off the horn, I would have hunted tip the floor manager and Invit ed him over to the repair coun ter for a lblen. Dear Ann Landers: I'm a 13-year-old girl who made a ter rible mistake. Two weeks ago I put peroxide in the water wlicn I washed my hair. Not just a little peroxide a whole lot. I meant for my hair hair to be a few shades lighter, but it turned out much lighter than I expected. My mother and dad went wild w hen they saw me. I got orders to get a short haircut at once. Now my hair is blonde on the ends but close to the scalp It's dark brown and I look like a field animal. My parents are so mad they Xerophytcs are found in the desert and are plants adapted to growth with a limited water supply. In the meantime keep ribbons, bows and other ornaments off your head. Make no reference to your hair and jour folks will thaw out even tually. Ann Landers' frank and in formative new book, "Tcen-Ag-ers and Sex" ($2.95) is now available at your book store. Ann Landers will be glad to help you with your problems. Send them to her in care of this newspaper enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope, er won't let me go to the beau ty shop and get my hair tinted back to my natural color. Ernie Franklin, manager of the chamber's Seattle Traflic Association and director of the Port of Seattle's Export-Import Rate Bureau, said this means exporters have a chance at as much as a million tons of new business with Japan. The Northern Pacific Rail way, Union Pacific, and Chi cago, Burlington, Quincy Rail road cut their rates independ ently to 70 cents per hundred weight from the Missouri River westward effective in about 50 days. Past experience indicates Sc atlle would handle about 17 per cent of this new business. Franklin said.
