"They're a belter ball club than they were at the beginning of the season," Halas said. "We've seen films of their last two ball games, but I expect them to come up with some thing new, and I don't know what it will be." Halas shunned comment on whether the Bears were a bet ter team now than for their first meeting with Green Bay, but he said that with Ronnie Bull, Willie Galimore and Char lie Bivins all ready for action at the running halfback spot, the Bears might have some oppor tunities for surprise too. "Let's not build up our great strength," he said. "The Pack ers have the edge on past per formance. They've won two straight championships. They've beaten us five of the last six games. That's an indication of their over-all strangtli. "And psychologically, they'll be primed emotionally for their best performance of the season because they want to prove that our beating them the first time was a mistake." ras Beauty Fair 1; Elect rolux 1, Team No. 6 3; Linkvllle IV 4, Greenwood Ma sonry 0; Thomas Sheet Metal 2, Cas cade Industrial 2. Michigan had a sorry 1-J-l record after five games and seemed in jeopardy of sinking below last year's 2-7 mark and finishing in the Big Ten base Giants' Experience Worries 49er Boss REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (L'PH Coach Jack Christian sen of the San Francisco Forty Niners respects the New York Giants' experience even more than their muscle. The Forty Niners must battle the defending Eastern Division kingpins Sunday in the Polo ment for the second straight season. But the Wolverines upset Northwestern. 27-6 two weeks ago and then utilized a tough defense and capitalized on a fumbled pitchout recovery in the last seven minutes to nip Grounds and Christiansen says his team will do nothing tricky or unusual. He pointed out that the mid dle six of the Giants" defense has a total of 56 years of ex perience. He said fancy stuff against veterans like these Wxrtortetioofujr Lesson, Illinois and even their mark at 3-3-1 for the season and 2-2-1 in the Big Ten. Now the odds are against the Illint. They would have to win their final two games against Wisconsin and frontninner Mich igan Slate while Ohio State "tends to defeat your own pur pose." "They're so smart tliey know every move you're going to make," he continued. "Thoy read you like a book." He said he was going to try to beat the. Giants by telling his men to "muscle up and play it ill Slows would have to lose to either Northwestern or Michigan for Pete to go to the Rose Bowl. Bump, 33, now has whipped brother Pete, 37, in the only four games that they've coached against each other but Bump refuses to believe that he has nose to nose or be run out of the park." He indicated that he thought his boys would have a chance if they matched their perform ance against the Chicago Bears or the last half of the Dallas battle last Sunday. best sellers Tops on everybody's best seller list Is the daily newspaper. On an average day a daily newspaper is bought by 86.4 of atl U.S. households and read by about 90 million adults and 9 million teenagers. It's not surprising that the newspaper Is such a best seller. No where else can you find out so fast and in such detail what's going on in the far corners of the world or just around tlie corner in your own hometown. The newspaper Is the best source for shopping Information, too, and that makes it a "best seller" as far as advertisers are concerned. People need to know whaf s for sale ... for how much ... for how long . . . and at whose store. They find out In the newspaper. Now that the Illinois game Is past, Bump, who Is still real close to his brother and doesn't exactly relish the idea of bat tling him every year, is rooting for tlie Illini again. "Sure, I'd like to see them w in the rest of their games," he said. But he neatly sidesteps the point that he could still help Pete to go to Pasadena by knock ing off Ohio State in two weeks. "Right now, we're concerned Ubrtrf about Iowa this veek, that's the only game on our mind," he said.
