Oregon Monday, October it, 1365 Early Years Influence Kids By ANN' LANDERS Dear Readers: Parents often write and ask me what makes some children turn out well and some badly. Why do some children grow up to be re sponsible, lov ing, weH ad justed adults while others seem to Utoe their way? There are no pat answers to these questions. Heredity is un deniably a factor but there is more and mere evidence to sup port the theory that a child is the net result of what happens to him in his early years. Vujnovich said the committee has documentary evi dence to back its charges. Vujnovich and another com mittee member, Dusan iPetkovic reported that emigres who pic keted Tito on his first visit here in October, lfffit), had re ceived warning letters begin ning late last month from rela tives in Yugoslavia, They quot ed the letters as saying "please do not do as you did in October or we will be harassed and tor tured" and "please do not dem onstrate or e will lose our jobs and be deported to the in terior." "Yes, the letter actually used the word torture," Vujnovich said. "One "8-year-old woman wrote her son 'i have Uie October cold 1 had in I960 and the doctor has been to see me three times.' Dear Ann Landers: I'm a Xavy w ife whose husband is on a Polaris submarine riding the sixth patrol. My man is gone (or 14 weeks and is home for 10 seeks. Sly two children are in school so they don't require much time or attention. I read, sew, clean, shop, bowl, swim, watch TV and go to the movies but still I gel lonely, especially for male companionship. It is no secret that some Navy wives run around. Everyone knows who these women are. In some cases their husbands know and are willing to forgive and forget. I don't think my husband would be so broad minded (or lion-hearted if 1 stepped out on him. So far I've been 100 per cent faithful but it's becoming in creasingly difficult not to wink back if you know what I mean. Please help. A POLARIS WIFE. Dear Wife: To cheat or not to cheat that Is the question which faces almost all married people at one time or another. Disenchantment, or fn some cas es plain boredom, causes much of the straying. Thousands of sad and sorry people have written to trll me they paid a dear price Cor what they had meant to be only a little fun. The ability to play it straight pays handsome divi dends in long-term profits, iy dear. This Is what separates the girls from the women. If excessive drinking is wreck ing your health or destroying someone you love, send for Ann Landers' booklet, "Help For The Alcoholic," enclosing with your request 20 cents in coin and a long, self - addressed, stamped envelope. Ann Landers will be glad to help you with your problems. Send them to her in care of this new spaper enclosing a stamped, elf-addressed envelope. SPECIAL! This Week Only!
