Mass.-Vic-tmia Shellenberg, field director of (lie Seven College Conference Scholarship program, will be in Klamath Falls Oct. 30 to meet with high school students inter ested in attending an eastern lib eral ai ls college (or women. She will talk to students from Klam ath Union High School. Sacred Heart Academy and Henley High School. Located in New York. Massa chusetts and Pennsylvania, the seven colleges supporting t h e scholarship program are: Rar nard. Bryn Mawr. Mount Holy oke. Radcliffe, Smith, Vassar and Wellcslcy. Since 104.1 these colleges have been offering competitive schol arships to outstanding young women in 14 slates of the Mid dle. South and Kar West. In the fall of l3, f& students entered one of the seven colleges under its scholarship program. Of these students, those with finan cial need shared in scholarship assistance I o t a 1 i n g $100,200 awarded by the Seven College Conference. P. Oldfield. She also shared her vacation time with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Schmitz. this city, and her sister. Mrs. John Harris and family in Lan gell Valley. Miss Boye is .a native of Klamath Falls and was gradu ated from Klamath Union High School, in 11147. Three years lat er she joined the Navy and took her basic training in Great Lakes. During her nver-13 years in the service she has been stationed at Bremerton. Oak land. Mare Island. Paris Island, Corpus Christi and now at Quan tico. She has worked as X-ray technician at all points and presently at Quantico is with the medical administration. An avid hunter and fisherman, the visitor spent much of her leave enjoying those pastimes. And, being a capable camera man, too. ' she returned to her base with pictures of fish and a three-point buck, rewards of her Klamath Falls stav. Slimwear Five Teachers Join Sorority The Blue Room of the Wine ma Hoiel was the scene of im pressive formal initiation rites for five candidates into Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Kap pa (iamma. international hon or society for women teachers, Oct. 5. Initiation honors were be stowned upon qualified women teachers, Winifred Clawson, Rita DoPew, lrena Jelinek, Blanche Montgomery and Margaret West lin by chapter officers. Dolly Bunch, president; Wilma Mar vin, first vice president, and Nell Stewart, second vice presi dent. Frances Stewart, secre tary, presented new members with certificates which had been lettered by Marjorie Gunderson. Initiates were escorted into tlie beautifully arranged Blue Room by escorts Marjorie (lunderson, lla Thurman, Klsie Mock. Al ma Garrison and Aura Mitchell. In charge of arrangements for initiation ceremonies and pre senting candidates was Jean nolle Jackson, committee chair man. Other committee members included Majorie Gunderson, Lela Thurman and Alma Garri son. Dolly Bunch presided over a brief business meeting preceding initiation rites. As candidates received the de gree, chapter members sang two appropriate numbers entitled Symbols of Delta Kappa Gam ma and the Delta Kappa Gam ma Song. Following initiation, members adjourned to the Green Room for the banquet. New members were escorted into the dining loom w hich was festive in hues of red and gold in keeping with the official colors of the Delta Kappa Gamma organization. Beautifully appointed tables car ried out the color scheme with red and gold ribbon runners, rose floral arrangements, cor sages and red tapers. A large red rose floral arrangement used during initiation ceremon ies graced the head table and was complemented by red float ing roses placed on remaining tables. Chapter symbols were placed around the room and on Hie piano. Members enjoyed the chapter scrapbook which was on display in the back of the room. Mar jorie Gunderson had charge of the scrapbook.
