Pan t Pan 6 Paw Pan Pats ; Opening- lead Q Bad Break Insurance By OSWALD JACOBY Newspaper Enterprise Asan It is always bad luck when you lose a game or slam because of a bad break in trumps, but it is bad play when you fail to guard against the bad break. Smith's six-spade contract was reasonable indeed. He only need ed a 3-2 break in trumps and a 5-1 break in clubs to make all 13 tricks. South won the opening heart lead with dummy's ace. He led a trump to his king and a see . ond trump to dummy's queen. East showed out and the fat was in the fire. South could not make his slam any more, in fact he could not even make five-odd. He played two more rounds of trumps in the vain hope that West did not hold a second heart to lead to his partner, but West had that second heart. South commented that lie had guarded against finding four trumps in the East hand. He had done that all right. If East held four (rumps he would have been able to finesse against the tack and make ell the tricks, but South could have guarded against any 4-1 break. All he had to do was play his ace end king of trumps. East would have shown out, but South would be in no trouble at all. He would simply have started on the club suit and dis carded his two hearts on the second and third club leads. West could have trumped in then or waited while more clubs were played, but the result would have been the came. Whenever West trumped he would have had to let declarer Jn and the queen of trumps would be an entry for the rest of dummy s clubs. (UPU -Tourists will be able to travel In the moon "perhaps within 25 years" for only $3,000, aerospace expert Dr. Richard Porter said Thursday night. Porter Included In the $3,000 a round-trip rickct, stewardess serv ice, meals and champagne. He also predicted freight could be sent to the moon for as little as $3 a pound a quarter of a cen tury hence. Porter, a consultant for Gen eral Electric Co., made his prog nostications In a speech at the dinner of the biennial convention of electric power officials here. Porter also said a round trip to Mars during the "tourist season" that is, when Mars and earth are in conjunction would cost only about $4,000. He didn't say whether champagne would be in eluded on this trip, loo. BRING THE i FAMILY I ' Tna Til Brooded Chiektn Spaghetti Pino Pit Try Our New French Fried Ravioli Eat 'Em Here or Orders To Go.
