Lakeview High School News Notes Tho new Junior Varsity Rally Squad members of Lakeview High School were elected Oct. 2 by vote of the student body. Out of the 14 girls trying out, those elected were Ester Evans, (junior, and sopho mores Bonra'o Bratlon, IMarcia Mast, Carol Simpson, Susan Orr, Roxanna Young, and Potty Met- zen. The girls Will lead yells (or junior varsity games In football and bssketball. . Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude tests are scheduled Oct. 15 to test verbal and math abilities. All junior and senior members of the National Honor Society are en titled to take the tests with ho. charge. The usual charge of $1 for other students is being as sumed by the Bernard Daly Edu cational Fund, These tests can make seniors eligible for 223 dif ferent scholarships amounting to a total of $155,000. Supervising the test groups are Mrs. Sharon Faulk ner. Leon Rafnson, and Willard Chrlstensen. A field trip for sophomore. Junior, and senior boys enrolled in agriculture Was held IFrlday afternoon. Oct. 4. lis purpose was to teach the boys how to take soil samples and mako tests for another program set-up later tin's year. In charge of the trip were' Robert Elden, vocational agricul ture teacher, and Bill Moser, Lake County extension agent. The vlS' it included the ag farm and vari ous ranches around the valley. The 11965 graduates of Lake- view High School who wish to enter the .1964-65 National Merit Scholarship competition should register now at the counselling center, according to an announce ment by Willard Cliristensen. Qualifying tests will be given at the school at 0 a.m. Tuesday, March 10. The first pop rally of the year was held Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. before the football game with St. Mary's on Friday night. The football team was transported by truck through town, and the students brought up the rear in snake dance fashion. Tho Hoiikcrellcs led tin the yells and demonstration of school spirit for the first homo game of the season. The history of their tribes told In compositions was Included in a school magazine sent to Lake- view High School by the students of the Henry Henderson Institute, secondary school in Nynsaland, and is promoting much interest among the students here. DEAR POLLY-The best way 1 have found to shorten a knit ted dress or skirt is to first run two rows of machine stitching all around the skirt at the desired new liemline. Then cut off the ma terial just below the stitching. Un ravel yarn from the discarded piece and uso It to do a row of single crochet over tlio stitching and the raw edge. M Alt IE r.
