Fired - Up Pelicans At South ialem Tonight SALEM The Klamath Union Pelicans, somewhat disappointed at themselves over last week's 12-0 loss to Grants Pass, get their second chance to gain the victory column tonight when they come here to battle the rugged South Salem Saxons in an 8 p.m. game. The Pelicans are vowing to get a victory this week and have been working extremely hard at doing just that. "They have had a lot of desire to learn this week and have really been working at it," said Coach Bob Williams. "I hope we can win this one so that the kids will realize that hard work is responsible for vic tories. A win would serve as a picture painting for them and that's the best w ay to learn. And we really put them through the paces this week." he explained. The game will not be an easy one. The Saxons also lost last week and will be eager for their first win of the season. They lost to one of the best teams in the state in North Salem, a team which lost in the state finals last year to Medford, 26-6. The Vikings had back several of thuse stale players, including three backs and some of the biggest linemen in the state last year. ' Williams was very' displeased with the offensive effort last week against Grants Pass. The Pelicans had their opportunities to score in the first half and didn't take advantage of them. The defense did a creditable job. He has changed that offense around slightly this week. Wil liams' sophomore son, Bob Jr., will be opening at the quarter back slot. He has a good passing arm and a smart head and runs pretty well with the ball. The lack of any type of passing at tack hurt the Pelicans last week. Junior Terry Eccles will be switching off at the left halfback spot with Mike Hitching. The only defensive change will have Larry Dow and Bob Moore switching off at the left line backer spot in place of center Jay Paxton. The Green Shark Klamath Jayvees Host SHA Trojans The Klamath Union Jayvees swing into action, their first of the year, tonight on Modoc Field when they take on the Sacred Heart Academy Trojans, a much improved team from last year. Coach Jack Peterson says that bis Jayvees are still virtually an unknown product because they've seen no real game action and he L-C, PSC Game Tops Schedule By United Press International A televised non-conference game between Lewis and Clark and Portland State highlights small college football action in Oregon this weekend.
