' : There will be individual events ,br both men and women and ; anyone can compete in these '. contests. McFarland vs. Eldon Paul Vavei, tl at. 10 Selected By Marines Ten Klamath County boys have been selected by the Marine Corps League, Crater Lake De tachment, to attend this sum mer's Devil Pup program at Camp Pendleton, Calif., for 10 days beginning Aug. 20. The boys are John Wilton Bruce Caldwell, Raymond Creol Danny Mitchell, Frank Downs Gclacio Valdez, Larry Ward Donald Spicher, Donald Taylor and Thomas Thompson. Alter nates are James Smith, Bob Dalton and Skip Waits. The boys were picked by the league screening committee from a list of 30 local youths. Included in the 10-day program will be instruction in citizenship and physical fitness. The boys will be sponsored by tlie local league and any private donations will be appreciated. Anyone wishing to have a part in train ing these boys in good citi zenship may send their dona tions to the Marine Corps League, Crater Lake Detachment, Box 1081, Klamath Falls. More than 10,000 American youngsters have participated in the program since its' inception in 1!54. About 3,500 tioys were at camp last year, the first year there were any representa tives from Oregon. Teamsters Launch Attack On JFK Civil Rights Record 7" . -v fe i,r Hi,. TtimfTifti TRICK SKIING SET FOR WATER SHOW Dale Mueller of Klamath Falls, who has mastered the tricky feat of skiing backwards, will be one of the many participants at the Klamath Water Festival slated for Aug, 4 on Up per Klamath Lake at the Moore Parle Marina. The public is invited and there will be no admission or parking charges. The event Is sponsored by the Basin Boaters and with the help of local merchants. New Structure Gets Approval CORVALLIS (UPI) Construc tion of a new administration build ing at the WCTU Children's farm Home north of here has been au thorized by the home's board of directors. Donald Miller, superintendent, said $45,000 contributed to the home will be used to build the structure. at-A BILL SAYS -- LOOK AT THE FACTS! Kennedy. Sidney Zagri, testifying for the Teamsters before a House Judi ciary subcommittee, attacked President Kennedy's civil rights package as "hesitant, limited and loosely drafted." The Teamster attack came as the attorney general was appear ing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the legis lation. He insisted that stronger legal weapons than presently available are needed to break down racial discrimination. Oilier Capitol Hill developments Leaders of the nation's three major religious faiths joined in giving unqualified backing to the administration program in testi mony before the House Judiciary Committee. Labor Undersecretary John F. Henning. urging approval of the President's proposal for fair employment practices legislation, testified before a Senate labor subcommittee that without con gressional action, many labor unions and employers who want to halt discrimination "cannot or will not move."
