HEARING TESTS SET IN COUNTY All preschool children in Klamath County will
have an opportunity to have their hearing checked by a state audiometic team July
18, according to Dr. Seth Kerron, Klamath County health officer. Parents with chil
dren from 3 to 5 years of age should contact the health department for an appoint
ment, TU 2-2501, Extension 253. The hearing examinations are conducted without
charge and are designed to detect hearing loss as early as possible and refer their
findings to family physicians. The tests are qiven through the cooperation of the
county health office and the Maternal and Child Health Section of the Oregon State
Board of Health.
Ex-Guerilla Gives War Views

When France lost the battle for
Indo-China with the fall of Dien
Bien Phu in 1954, the guiding
genius behind the Communist at
tack was Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap.
Giap, whose tactics gave new
meaning to guerilla warfare, row
is tbe defense minister of Com
munist North Vietnam and chief
strategist for the Communist Viet
Cong in South Vietnam and the
Communist Pathet Lao in Laos.
Like Mao Tse-tung, the Red
Chinese leader whose tactics he
adopted and improved upon, Giap
has set forth his theories of war
in a book.
"Guerilla warfare causes many
difficulties and losses to the en
emy and wears him out," Giap
writes. "To annihilate enemy
manpower and liberate land,
guerilla warfare has to change
gradually to mobile warfare."
The change is made, he says,
when scattered bands of guerillas
can be grouped for swift, hard
hitting attacks over a set battle

MR. AND MRS. ROY CAIN of
Roseburg have returned to their
home after visiting her sister,
Mrs. Bill Burnett, and family.
They are former Klamath Falls
residents and visited relatives and
friends there also.

Vernon Baird of Tucson, is homei
from Klamath Valley Hospital af
ter having major surgery. He and
his sister and mother have been
visiting his grandparents. Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Kclleson. His father
flew from his base in Tucson to
be with his son for a few days.

DOWNING JR. and three children
of Gilroy spent a few days with
his parents, .Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Downing Si. The children will
stay for several weeks. The Down
ings' daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Sargenti, and
children of San Jose were also vis
itors for a few days and left their
son, Steven, for a visit.

says this is about what the situa
tion has become there today.
The Geneva accord by which it
was hoped to turn Laos into a
neutral state, gave the Pathet
Lao Guerillas army status by
recognizing that there were three
armed forces in Laos, the Pathetl
Lao, Ihe royal rightist forces un-l
der Gen. Phoumi Nosavan and
the neutralist forces of Kong Le.
In the past year, according to
Domen, it has been discovered
that the Pathet Lao possess armed
camps with their own supply
dumps and field hospitals. In the
strategic Plain of Jars which pro
vides access not only to South
Vietnam but to Cambodia and
Thailand as well, they have
fought in unit strength up to a
battalion, carrying relatively
heavy weapons and working w ith
radio equipment.
Giap's advisers work right up
with Pathet Lao forward units.
In addition to training Pathet
Lao officers in North Vietnam
and building up local military
units, the Communists are pro
ceeding rapidly with the indoc-

said hearing to be published as provided
by the Cily Charier and conforming
thereto she shall cause this resolution
to be published in the City official news
paper, once each day for ten consecutive
days, and the City Engineer, be and he Is
hereby directed to post, within five days
alter the first publication ol this resolu
tion, on the street or streets along the
line or the contemplated sewer, at least
two notices headed; "NOTICE OF SEW-
ER WORK" in letters not less than one
(1) Inch in length, and said notice shall
contain in legible characters, a copy of
the resolution of the Council and the
date of its passage, and the City Engineer
shall lite with the City Recorder an aftf
davit of the posting ot such notices, stat
ing the date when posted, the place
where posted and the number ol notices
posted.
