Sen ior regent reported on the Mer rill Lions Club dinner which the College of Regents Committer served on July 1. Announcement was made of the next Lions Club dinner on July 15. which J he publicity committee will serve, '.iloria Watkins is chairman. A discussion on birthday din ners met with hearty approval, and resulted in plans being made for a politick every other month, the next one to be held on Aug. 20, honoring those with birthdays in July and August. jSpecial guests will be members' ot the LOOM Lodge No. 306. The quarterly report was read and approved. Ruby Powell was reported ill. Ellen Feigi and Myr tle Kucera had birthdays. Ma ble Craig won the special prize. Academy of Friendship will meet for a polluck luncheon at the home of Barbara Mauch Fri day, Julv 12. The next regular meeting of the chapter will be held Tuesday, July 16, in live Merrill Recreation Hall. Framed prints, and even paintings, are being hung in the Bathroom. SERVICE CLUB STAFF Judy V. Taylor, left, Kingsley Service Club director, and Mn. Joe Leonard, new staff assistant, work on plans for club social activities. Mrs. Leonard came to this city from New York in 1944 to work with the Camp Fire Girls program and later with the State Employment Office. During World War II she served with the American Red Cross in Italy. Talented musically, Mrs. Leonard will further develop the current weekly "jam session" at the club and will initiate barbershop quartet and chorus activities among her other duties. U 3000 PAIR! Mrs. Henri Conradi of Medford honored the Puckerincs by en tertaining a group of close friends at their summer home at Lake of the Woods. Mrs. Fraley was postmaster in Dairy for 14 years before starting to teach. At an evening reception, Mrs. l-raley was given a little "Red Sehoolhouse" containing gifts of money. At a potluck dinner for all persons connected with the school, she was given a gift of luggage. At the latter party, Larry Lur H, Evelyn Osborne, Jackie and 'rt Moriey, teachers, who will not return to Bonanza in the fall, were also honored. During the entrance of officers, Mr. and Mrs. James Lacy sang1 "I May Not Pars this Wav Again."! accompanied by Mrs. Rudolph Paygr at the piano. Performing the crowning cere mony were members of Lost River! Chapter Order of DcMolay. Dur-j ing the ceremony, "The Lord's1 Prayer," was sung by Mr. and Mrs. James Lacy. An addenda honoring Loudean was presented by several officers of the assembly. On behalf of thc assembly, Ronda Lyon, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Lyon, presented Loudean with a bouquet of blue carnations. The theme chosen by the new worthy adviser is, "Music in May." Her colors are blue and silver. Carry ing out the theme the officers carried miniature blue violins en circled in flowers. The line of ficers carried miniature blue harpsl also set in flowers. For entertainment, Connie Unis and Marilvn Duncan sang "But tons and Bows" and "Play a sim ple Melody." The worthy advisor introduced her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lyon. Other relatives introduced were Mrs. Carl Lyon, Leona Cacka. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lyon, Mrs. Rodney Lyon, Mr. and Mrs Rirky lllian. Loudean s flowers her Bible to her father. KF Woman Is Honored Mrs. Hugh (Marie I O'Connor was awarded a national life mem bership by the Oregon State Fed eration of Garden Clubs. Inc. at the I9C3 convention in Portland The presentation was in recogni tion of Mrs. O'Connor's 30 years of outstanding work in landscape design, flower arrangement and gardening. The life membership is the highest honor that can come to a member of a federated garden club. The recipient becomes a "Steward of Tomorrow" in Na tional Council, is an honored guest at any meeting and re ceives National Gardener maga zine lor life. The $100 life membership servos a two-fold purpose by placing $50 in the national scholarship fund and $30 in the permanent home fund. f Y "4. .m. XL' v Goldenweds To Be Feted A family gathering honoring Mr. and Mrs. All red G. Meissncr of 3475 Ferry Street, Eugene, is planned Sunday, July H. by the couple's daughter, Mrs. Josephine Meissner Kittredge, at her own home, 433 Pinto Way, Eugene. The event will mark the cou ple's 50th wedding anniversary.' They were married July 16, 1913. at Grants Pass. Mrs. Meissner va; Mr. Gertrude Obenchain Roberts, a widow with a small daughter, later adopted by Meiss ner. Until the past year, Mr. and Mrs. Meissncr had made their home at Klamath Falls, where he operated a blacksmith shop for many years. From 1332 until 1832 when lie retired, he had been employed by (he California Ore gon Power Company, at the same trade. They moved to Eu gene a year ago to be near their daughter and other relatives. Guests at the afternoon gather ing, kept small because Alfred Meissncr has not been well, will be the grandchildren, Patrick Kit tredge and Mr. and Mrs. William hittredge and children, Karen and Bradley, all of Adel, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Olson and children, Kimberly, Kent and Da vid, of Eugene; and Meissner s sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Robert Carpenter and Mr. and Airs. Chester Riebol, all of Eugene. ) S4l TO WED Lora Lee Leonard, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. A. Leonard, this city, has announced her engagement to Walter E. Mackeniie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. MacKenzie, San Mateo. The future bride, presently employed by a travel agency in San Francisco, is a graduate of KUHS and University of Nevada. While at the university she was affiliated with Gamma Phi Beta sorority, was president of Sagens, upperclass women's honorary, and secretary of the associated students. Her fiance, a reporter for the Reno Evening Gazette, is a graduate also of University of Nevada. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Delta Chi, professional journalism society, and was listed in Who's Who on American University and College Campuses. A summer wedding is planned.
