Revenge against a domineering
mother or tyrannical father often
is given by girls and young wom
en as the basic reason for their
illicit sex relations, says Dr. Eve
lyn Millis Duvall.
In a report. "Love and the Facts
of Life," published by Associa
tion Press, the publishing division
of the YMCA. Dr. Duvall said:
"The great majority of the un
married mothers studied wanted
to have a baby without a hus
band. In fact, the men in most
of the cases were not particularly
important to the girls except for
the purpose they served in getting
the girls pregnant."
Teen-agers are defended by Dr.
Duvall. She said research has
shown the greatest increase in the
illegitimacy rate in recent years
has been among women between
23 and 34 years of age, not among
teen-agers. In 1958 alone, she said.
79 per cent of all illegitimate
births were to women over 18.
One reason women live longer
than men: They are more suc
cessful in keeping their weight
down, according to insurance
studios.

Tokyo Police To Warn Tourists About 'Nice Bars'

ing each summer could be pre
vented if someone nearby had
known how to apply artificial respiration.
The most important thing is to
start immediately. Send someone
for help, but don't wait for the
ambulance because it will prob
ably be too late.
Also, don't give up. There are
cases on record of breathing
starting again after a lapse of
many minutes, when the rescuer
kept steadily at work forcing air
in and out of the lungs.
Most first aid experts favor the
mouth-to-mouth method of artifi
cial respiration.
The air passages should be
cleared by drawing the tongue
forward with your fingers. Place
the victim half way between a
face-up and side position, tilt the
head well back to insure a clear
ir passageway.
Take a deep breath, place your
mouth over the victim's mouth,
and breathe into his lungs until
you see his chest rise and feel
the lungs expand.

and 63 double "cocktails" claimed
to have been drunk by four bar
hostesses who entertained the
sailors.

about $1391 to the sailors.
