    BREAKFAST
nor
START THE DAY RIGHT A gay table in the morning
puts the family in fine fettle. Uie the silver needed for
the food served. If the first course is going to be grape
fruit place an extra spoon. If no fork foods are included
in the menu, omit the fork. Saving washing and drying.

LUNCHEON
TWO WAYS For the informal luncheon table, use a
basic six-piece place setting which may be used two
ways. The teaspoon may be placed to the far right for a
first-coiTse fruit cocktail or between knife and soup
spoon as in this illustration for tea or coffee.
FORMAL DINNER
M CHOICE If you follow the lead of many smart
hostesses and start dinner with an appetiier salad, ar.
range the sterling with the salad fork placed first on
the left. For the more traditional menu, use this diagram
as your guide and add a cocktail fork if it is required.

Silver Queen
Of All Metals
Have you ever pondered as
vou set your table about how
your handsome flatware service
came to be . . . now long silver
knives and forks and spoons
have been in use and about how
man has progressed since the
time he used his fingers to scoop
lood from a community uten
sil with other members o his
cave family?
It is a fascinating story. This
week Bee Bell told us a bit
about it. and she gave us some
illustrations to help you be sure
of the proper settings for break
fast, luncheon, dinner and the
formal table.
A coordinated table is a thing
of beauty and beauty can be cre
ated with a bit of imagination.
Your table expresses you. Noth
ing more thoroughly reveals your
personality than the table you
plan (or family and friends. Your
imagination, your feeling for col
or and balance, your style prefer
encesall are evident in the se
lection and arrangement of your
table appointments.-They rellccl
the real you. almost like a m i r
ror. So to picture you at your
best, always, you will want to
develop your sense of styling.
Then each and every setting will
say to an admiring audience.
"Here is a hostess of taste and
distinction."
It simply is an all-together look.
And the secret of achieving- it
lies in the selection of things
which blend perfectly with each
other to achieve that over
all air of unity and harmony.
Learn to know what goes with
what. Choose your silver with ex
treme care so that it will shine
on a table set for two and still
grace an anniversary table years
hence.
Before going into other details
in later silver stories take a look
at how place settings for various
meals are arranged.
