The league s general managers and coaches will get together Friday and possibly Saturday for what promises to he a live ly round of trade talks. The question of cutting rights was expected to cause considera ble debate, based on the outcome of the first phase of the league's equalization draft May 11. A bid to beef up the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, the door mat teams in 19H2, fell far short ol expectations. The Jets i formerly Titans' only selected Indiana tackle Jeff Sla baugh. a Buffalo pick, and West Virginia end Gene Heeler from San Diego in the special draft that provided 24 eligible players for New York. From a list of 12 unfroien players. Oakland's lone choice was defensive halfback Claude Gibson of San Diego. A provision worked out by tlie owners in May appears to he a controversial one. It would give the Jets and Raiders first crack at all players released by Ameri can. National and Canadian league teams.
