Bend grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth frame of the first game and won despite the fact that the hawks knotted tlie game in the sixth with a pair of tallies. Bend scored three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth for the win. Mike Metke got the pitch ing win for Bend on a seven-hitter while Marv Cunningham absorbed the loss for the Hawks. He was relieved in the eighth by Tom Pi! grim and Pilgrim gave way to Young in the ninth. Jon Crume was the big stick for the Hawks in the first game with a double and two singles Tom Schiff and Al Kenyon were the onlv others with two hits, both singles. The Bend nine got nine hits off the Hawks. Clark had a triple, Hamilton a double and single, and Don Watrous three singles. The Falcons whipped tlie Hawks in the first game, which was league game, behind the brilliant three-hit pitching performance of Rich Jackson. He gave up sin gles to Tom Schiff and Marv Cun ningham and a triple to Curt Cole man. The Falcons pounded out nine hits off loser Tom Pilgrim. John Parisotto had a triple and sin gle, Larry Smith a double, and Jay Pa:-tnn a double, triple and single. The Falcons tallied their runs in spurts. The Hawks had built up a 3-0 lead going into the sixth when the Falcons knotted the game at 3-3. The Hawks scored twice in the second on a walk to Bob Woldt, a triple by Coleman and a single by Schiff. The other run came in the fourth when Crume reached first on a fielder's choice, stole second and took third and home on wild pitches. Klamath's Falcons stormed back in the sixth. Parisotto led of with a triple. He scored on Mike Kitching's sacrifice fly to center. John Gray walked, stole second, took third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball Marv Yunck was hit and moved to second when Dave Johnsonl walked and to third when Jack son walked. He scored on an er ror by the Hawk second sacker. The lid blew off for the lfiiwks in the eighth when the Falcons got six runs. Paxton led off with; a hit. Lanny Guycr struck out but Johnson and Jackson walked again. Young reached first on an lerror which scored Johnson and Larry Binncy singled to drive home both Jackson and Young He stole second and ran home on Parisotto's single. The Falcons had the second game in hand from the openiii frame when thev scored four runs off starter and loser Jon Crume. All four runs came without the benefit of a hit. The Falcons! got eight hits to only three off Jim Jackson in another fine mound performance. Roy Van Pelt had a single and Rich Bath a double and single for the only three hits. The Falcons were led by catch er Dennv Coleman who had two singles. Larry Binncy pounded double and the other hits were scattered.
