caused his mother considerable embarrass
ment. During every tour of the supermar
ket, he would sneak surprise items into the
cart, and at the check-out counter the
mother would have to return everything
from a box of chocolate bars to a bag of
fertilizer.
One day the store manager noticed the
youngster struggling along beside his
mother and obviously in trouble. "Say,
sonny," he said, "you've lost your belt."
"No, he hasn't," the mother replied
firmly. "I took it off when we came in
here now he has to keep his hands busy

man in his area. The manufacturer sent a
sales expert to learn his secret.
"Demonstration," said the dealer. "I
change channels with the remote control
while standing outside, while in my private
officeeven from the storeroom downstairs.
It never fails to impress them."
Just then a customer came in pushing
along his new tv set and demanding a re
fund. "You're dissatisfied with the remote
control feature?" asked the appliance dealer
incredulously.
"It's more than that," the customer re
plied. "I'm getting too darn tired running
to all those different places every time I
want to change channels!"
