The announcement of OSU Slates Sessions In Summer OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY ;ilpregon state University's sum Ther session will open June 17 and end either eight or 12 weeks later depending on wants and needs of individual students. . . The eight-week session will be completed Aug. 9, but an addition al four weeks of interscssion will then be offered ending Sept. 6. By putting the two programs to gether, a student may earn 18 credits a full-quarter's program plus, according to Dr. Franklin R. Zeran, dean of education and director ot summer session. The eight-week session is par ticularly well adapted to public school teachers who are inter ested in doing advanced study but . who do not have the time to attend a. longer summer school, Zcr an explained. Course offerings at OSU will be expanded again this summer in keeping with tlie university's program of year-round school, he added. Zeran recommends summer session as a "proving ground' for high school graduates who are not sure about college plans or who need additional background before launching university work. An Increasing number of OSU students are graduating too in three full years including sum mersinstead of the traditional four, the OSU leader noted. Oth ers take summer work to add breadth to their training or as a means of concentrating effort on a particular subject, Zeran stated.
