Honors Awarded At Tule Dress Revue TULELAKE - Janet Bucking ham and Mardita Jamion re ceived top honors in the 4-H Dress nevue, ne Id May 13 in the Home economics building of the Tulelake . Butle Valley Fair grounds. Janet won the coveted senior division trophy which entitles her to participate in the Slate 4-H Dress Revue this August at Davis. Janet modeled a cherry wool flannel dress and novelty wool jacket of matching color. In making the outiit, Janet also covered her purse with the novel ty wool material. She is a mem ber of the Modoc Toilers 4-H Club led by Mrs. Mildred Dingier, clothing division. The junior division trophy went to Mardita Jamison. who mod eled a gay cotton print dress and bright orange jacket. Mardita be. longs to the 49'ers 4-H Club. Mrs. Helen .New kirk and Mrs. Edna Jamison are leaders. Forty five girls modeled n the show. Judging the entries were 4-H clothing leaders. Mrs. Erma Schlutcr and Mrs. Winona Fisher of Alturas and Mrs. Mary Cook of Eaglcvillc. Girls placing in the blue award group receiving medals were Marcene Krizo. Marv Palmer. Linda Olson. Kay Carter. Mona Lawrence. Susan Torrigino. Nona Ott. A I i d a Jamison. Kathy Stearns. Diane Arthur. Leah Bet- tandorf. Marlene Macy and De nice Holbrook. Jeannie Caiman was mistress of ceremonies. Mrs. Lucille Ar thur was narrator. Mrs. Albert Ryckman presented tile awards given by the Tulelake Grange. Following the dress revue re freshments were served by 4-H food leaders Lula Long, Leona Carter and Betty Baghott. Deco rating and clerking were handled by junior leaders Hita Williams. Judy Workman, Mama Cham bers, Jeannie Carman and Elaine Klasscn. Tulelake 4-H clothing leaders judged the work on the nearly 100 garments entered. Kour-H cloth ing leaders participating were Natalie Macy. Eleanor Bolesta. Ethel Klassen. Molly O'Kceffe. Edna Jamison. Helen N'ewkirk. 'Velma Robison, Mildred Dingier. Lctta Ott. Juanila Taium and Mildred Tatum. Ways and Means Committee Tues day approved a $106.7 million welfare budget. The budget was cut $21,000 from the amount asked by Gov. .Mark 1 1 .it f 10 id. The budget includes funds for an additional 128 case workers, 37 of whom will make a special effort to help recipients got off the welfare rolls. Also included is a special seven-man team to make a con tinuing study to root out fraud cases. The state's share will be about $41.9 million, the federal govern ment w ill supply $49.8 million, and the counties $13.8 million.
