MAUDE BUTLER was brought home (rom the Lakoview Hospital and is reported improv ing from her recent heart attack. Her brother-in-law, Lawrence But ler, is still in the hospital and may remain for another week or two, relatives said. MRS. BETH AYOUTT returned Sunday (rum Portland where she has been with her husband, Joe, a patient at the Portland Medi cal Center. His condition was re ported serious, but alter he re gains his strength he will be brought home. MR. AND MRS. DEAN MOR RISON arrived Sunday (rom Wy andote. Mich., to reside on the former Mary Miller property which they purchased last year. They plan to renovate the build ings on the property. The Morri sons are old acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clark, the two men were boyhood schoolmates. MR. AND MRS. C. M. THOM AS began extensive remodeling last week of their newly purchased home at Fail-port. COOPER-S SERVICE STATION was broken into last week. Two or three dollars were taken from the cigarette vending machine which had been pried open, Junior Cooper reported. Officers are still investigating. MR. AND MRS. JOHN HERBI- SON have .moved to Lakeview where he will work at a sawmill. MRS. SUSAN VINCENT re turned over the weekend after spending a week visiting w ith her daughter, Mrs. Joyce Stevenson, of Prinevillc. who met her at Christmas Vallev. Mrs. Robnett's son Damn, and wife, drove her that far and the family group had dinner together there. Nixon Withholds Comment On Republican Presidential Race City Briefs MRS. Nixon said Thursday he will not support any of the men mentioned as can didates for the l'Jiil Republican presidential nomination "until the proper time." Nixon told a news conference that "it would be premature for me to make a choice now. "Since my move to New York there has been speculation that I am supporting Gov. i Nelson A.l Rockefeller in 1904." Nixon said. "Others have siiEcestod I might be involved in a I George Komney draft or a slop Goldwater movement. wtwmi ihiiuji "I want to make it clear that I am not participating in any cam paign," Nixon said. He said all three men would make good presidents, and "tlieie are others to be considered, too." Nixon held a news conlercncc after conferring for an hour and 40 minutes with Illinois Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier, re garded as the strongest Republi can in the state. Carpentier has said he is a "possible" candidate for Illinois governor. Nixon said he called on Carpentier to discuss "a legal matter." A reporter asked Nixon how he was getting aloiy with his neigh bor, referring to Rockefeller. Nix on has moved into the building where Rockefeller lives in New York City. "We don't use the same eleva tor, so I'm not too well acquainted with him in that regard," Nixon said. Asked if Rockefeller's remar riage might hamper the gover nor s political plans, Nixon said, "I will not comment on that be cause it is a personal matter." Nixon said the top issues for the 1904 presidential campaign arc still to be decided. But if the campaign were in progress now, lie said, the big issues would be iCulia and unemployment. He said the risk of war is less now than it will be six months from now, and urged an immedi ate change in tlie Kennedy for eign policy.
