WILLIAMS The Pelican Cafe has been a Klom. ath Falls landmark since 1927 when it was first opened as a permanent part of the newly completed Williams Bldg., and has been operated almost continuously since that time. In early 1933 Mr. Williams wos forced to keep the restaurant open himself and turned the management of the business over to Mrs. Avis McConnell, who shortly leased the cafe. From May, 1935, until her retirement at the end of 1958, Mrs. Lucile Warner had com plete charge of food planning and prepara tion for the Pelican. Mrs. Warner gave to the Pelican her own tried and proven recipes and trained many of the people who ore still on the cafe staff. Through the 30 years of continuous opera tion under the same management, various changes hove taken place. The Candy Jar, open from 1946 to 1953, is now the Wing Bar. In 1962, on addition to the rear of the Williams building added o foyer ond rear entrance to the dining room from the 8th ond Klamoth Pork & Shop lot. Throughout the years, a constant effort has been made to keep the Pelican Cafe a breast of the times, to moke the interior interesting, pleasing and inviting for Klamath Bosin people ond for the many travelers who return year after yeor. You are cordially in vited to visit us anytime and especially during our 30th Anniversary Celebration tomor- DINING As usual, our main floor cafe will be open from 6:30 a.m. till 10 p.m. and during this anniversary celebra tion, you can dine anytime after 4 p.m. downstairs In , the Pelican Party Room or upstairs in the Main Dining Room. DANCING We'll have dancing in our downstairs Party Room from 9 till 1 with music by the Srorlighter's Trio: Norman Paulshock, LaMar Jensen and Bob Johnson. Music for dancing and music for listening.
