COUP, Lovey-Dovey Walking Ruled Out At School By AW LANOKRS Dear Ann Landers: I always thought this country was a de mocracy but it is getting more like Russia ev ery day. Yester day our princi pal made a long winded speech about boys and girls walking in the halls with :heir arms around each oth. er's waists. What's so terrible about a cou ple who is going steady walking that way? Since when is it in decent or immoral to put your arms around somebody you love? The old fossil also said he didn't want to see any more fel lows with blond peroxide streaks in their hair. This is another step toward a dictatorship. A lot of the kids who go steady have matching streaks which is sort of a fad to let people know they belong to each other. Will you please take this up in your column IF YOU ARE ON OUR SIDE. Blond peroxide streaks for boys are revolting. I've seen some of these streaked characters and they resemble pole-cats. Dear Ann Landers: I was one of those foolish girls who fell for a guy's looks. He was the spit ting image of Rory Calhoun and I thought I'd die from excitement whenever he smiled at me. 1 chased Bart for three years. I bought my own wedding ring and carried it in my purse until 1 caught him in a weak moment. A Justice of the Peace married us one night last January. Bart was so plastered he could hardly stand up through the ceremony. Now I'm pregnant. He comes home whenever he feels like it. which is anywhere from midnight to 3 a.m. He doesn't chase with women, he spends his time at his mother's house. She still treats him like a nine year-old. I've begged him to stay home like a husband should but it's no use. Please tell me what to do. I'm ready to take the gas pipe. SHERRY Dear Sherry: Gel off your knees and stop acting like you're honored to have this jerk around. Insist that he go home to his mother until he's ready to come back and behave like an adult. And remind him to drop the sup port checks in the mail. If you doormat wives would get oif the floor your husbands would have more respect for you. Dear Ann Landers: This is a touchy one. We need the advice of someone who is not in the im mediate family circle. . A close relative has been study ing with a professional and has be come a sculptress. She presented our son and daughter-in-law wilh one o her favorite pieces as a wedding gift. The young couple know a good bit about art and they don't want ti use it in their home. My husband feels they should not be pressured into it. I say the woman's feelings are at stake and it would be a crush ing insult if they didn't use the piece of art. May we hear from you? FAMILY FIREWORKS Dear Fireworks: It will not kill the couple to display the sculp ture for a few weeks. It would be especially generous of them to have the piece displayed when the sculptress comes to call. .Most people rotate art. They could easily rotate this particular piece to the attic after a few weeks. Ann Landers will be glad to help you w ith your problems. Kingsley Field personnel are invited to join the club. 1 Inventor Honored By Telegraph Club The new formed Klamath Chap ter, Morse Telegraph Club, joined all of the other chapters through out the United States and Canada to honor tile 172nd birthday of Samuel F. B. Morse, inventor of the telegraph, on April 27. Approximately 30 members and friends attended the banquet at the Eagles Hall and following dinner were guests of the Eagles for an evening of dancing, ac cording to John L. Atkinson, president of the Klamath chap ter. A nation-wide Morse telegraph circuit was installed in the club rooms through the courtesy of Western Union, and greetings were received from President Kennedy commemorating the vi. tal role the telegraph and tele graphers have played in the de velopment of the nation. Congratulations on the forma tion of the chapter here were received from all parts of the country and Canada, with person al greetings among the members also exchanged. The circuit ex tended from Montreal, Quebec, lo Los Angeles and from Atlanta, Ga., to Vancouver, British Co lumbia. Contact was made with more than 50 offices by the local chapter. Radio Exams Slated At OTI May 18 Examinations for operators of radiotelegraph, radiotelephone, and amateur code are scheduled in the Electronics Building. Ore gon Technical Institute, on Satur day. May 18. according to the Federal Communications Com mission at Portland. The times for the examinations follow: Radiotelegraph, all code and written tests, 8:30 a.m.; Ra diotelephone, all classes, 9 a.m.: Amateur written tests, general and extra, t p.m. Examinations will begin promptly and no variation from the schedule will be permitted due to the limited time allowed for the tests. Radio operators who desire credit for previous exams or who hold valid licenses must present the licenses and verification cards, if any, for credit at the time of the examination.
