In selecting individual issues, a favorable earnings trend is of greater importance than the current ratio of a stock's price to its earnings. Equity Research Associates says that no industry can better claim the description of "growth" than! the life insurance industry. The consistency of lis performance in this century can be matched by only the electric utilities industry. In the years since the war the industry has approximately quad rupled the amount of life insur ance in force and seen its annual premium income rise from $8 bil lion to over $25 billion. Grand Jury Indicts 13 Sim Joan Ochiho, 42, was. indicted (or the first degree mur der of Florence Hultt. 26, in one of five true Nils, eight secret in dictments, and two not true bills returned by the Klamath County grand jury to Judge David R. Vandenherg in circuit court before noon Monday. Included among those indicted wcie Harvey Blevins. 21. of 817 Main Sued, and Raymond Greg ory, 27, of 2til0 Altamont Drive, charged w ith complicity in Die bur glary of a dwelling belonging to Gene Autry Sellers, 518 Martin Street. The indictment further states that the two men entered Seller.' house with Intent to com mit assault and battery. Bond was set at 13.090 each. Ellis Ray lloach. 27. UPI Telephoto Break-Ins, Auto Thefts Busy Police's Yeekend Two break-ins and two auto thefts, reported over the weekend, wore investigated by the Klam ath Falls Police Department. Thieves took a metal money box containing $103 in a break-in at a service station, 57 Mam Street early Saturday morning. Entry was gained by breaking out the of fice window, police reported. The theft was discovered by Dave Quiglcy, station owner, when he came to work at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. He told police a com plete set of keys for the station. was also taken. Piper sen tenced Sammy McKnight to serve a term of one year in the coun ty jail for the larceny of ap proximately 11.300 from a Lake view man, it developed in circuit court Monday morning. (UPI)-An' Amcri an eyewitness to the Communist build-up in Cuba said in a copy- ghtcd radio report today that high speed vessels are transport ing ' tons of arms'' and men from Cuban ports to Latin Amcraan countries almost daily. The report, copyrighted by Mi ami radio station WGBS and the! Storer Broadcasting Co., also said the Fidel Castro regime has "at least" 1,000 missiles which can reach the U.S. mainland. The American and his wife said they were residents of Cuba for more than eight years. They re corded their story for the radio station but declined to permit use of tlieir names for fear of re prisals against friends on the island. They said they have given com plete details about everything they have learned about Castro's military strength to the U.S. Cen tral Intelligence Agency, accord ing to WGBS. Two Motorisfs Injured In Pair Of Accidents Two motorists were injured in. two one-car accidents that oc curred during the weekend in Klamath County, Oregon Slate Police reported Monday. In satisfactory condition at the Klamath Valley Hospital Monday was Lloyd Rivett, 48, Box 331, Dorris, who as injured about 7 p.m. Saturday when the car; he was driving southbound on! Barr, chairman of the Siskiyou County Board of Super visors, issued a statement April 25 explaining the board's stand in the controversy with Sheriff Al Cottar over the use of deputies. In reviewing the budget requests submitted by the various county departments. Barr said the board sets the budgets on the basis of what is necessary to run a de partment and what the taxpayer can afford. The sheriff's request for four more deputies and a sal ary raise for those in his depart ment was turned down because the board members felt the law enlorcement was adequate and there was no nerd for additional services. Barr stated that Cottar antic! paled resistance from the board and about a month before the budget sessions started a cam- paign to promote his request. "He did this ahead of time, without knowing whether the board would rule in favor of him or against his proposed budget," Barr said. "He urged everyone to write or talk lo their supervisor to ask for more money for the sheriff's department." Allen, 20, Grants Pass, was released from the same hospital at 12:30 a.m. Monday, after he was treated for injuries he re ceived when his car rolled over twice as the tires caught in a soil gravel shoulder on State 66. Milepost 32, near Bly Mountain. Allen told state police he was eastbound on the highway and traveling at about 45 miles an hour. He said he slowed to about 32 miles an hour to round a curve and his tires went into the soft shoulder. Szili said the Cuban was a Cas tro agent who was discovered prowling around a restricted pow der magazine. He said he and Jackson sought to turn the prisoner over to Ihe base police. The po lice declined to take him, Szili said, and told Szili and Jackson lo take the Cuban to the gate and release him. Tie gate was jammed by a de fective latch, Szili said, and he went to get a sledge-hammer to open it. While he was gone, ac cording to Szili, the Cuban at tacked Jackson, who fired in self defense. Szili said the body fell over a cliff and he and Jackson decided to say nothing because of possible international complications.
