CHAMPION Patty Willard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
O. W. Willard (Ruth Hendricks I, San Francisco, and
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hendricks, Klamath
Falls, has the distinction of being the youngest national
champion in the history of senior A A U synchronited
swimming competition. The 13-year-old girl swims with
the Sen Francisco Marionettes, which successfully de
fended the senior national indoor title they have claimed
since 1961 in Houston, Ten., on April 12-14. Patty placed
first in team, fourth in duet with her partner, Margaret
Drubrow, and 1 0th In solo in the entire U.S. for senior
competition. The young champion is active in school af
fairs, drama and holds a straight. A cholarship record.
She has also received the Curved Bar rank in informed
iate scouting.

son have returned home from a
bit of travel hoth south and north.
They sought the sun for sover.il
weeks In Arizona, visiting Reno
and Las Vegas en route.
Some time was spent in Phoe
nix and in Scottsdale. where they
encountered Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Gicnger ot Chiloquin while hav
ing a hurried lunch before a ball
game.
In Yuma they called on Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Low.
One location which brought
raves from t h e Thompsons was
Desert Grove where the luxuri
ous motel was set in a grove of
orange and grapefruit trees and
guests were invited to help themselves.

were guests of Mrs. Thompson's
sister and family, Mr. and Mrs.
T. L. Torgerson. I
The travelers rctunrcd to Klam
ath Falls long enough to repack
their suitcases for a jaunt to Port
land so Mrs. Thompson could
act as toastmistrcss at lire second
annual violet luncheon ol Sigma
Kappa. Representatives of the
sorority were present from West
ern Washington and Oregon at
the luncheon held in tlie Aero
drome of the Aero Club.
Of course they also saw their
daughter and son-in-law, Sue and
Mike Dougherty and grandson.
