Herzog, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hcrzog. Baker Road, Mount Shas ta, Calif., recently completed the eight-week communications center specialist course at the Southeastern Signal School, Fort Gordon, Ga. Herzog entered the Army in October 1002 and received basic training at Fort Ord. Before en tering the Army, the 20-ycar-old soldier was employed by Mount Shasta Community Hospital. He is a 1959 graduate of Mount Shas ta High School and a 1962 gradu uate of College of the Siskiyous ' Weed. Airman Basic Bernard J. Baltar, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Bal tar of Dunsmuir, Calif., is being reassigned to Chanute AFB, IU.. for technical training as a United States Air Force electronics main tenancc specialist. Airman Baltar, who enlisted in the Air Force a short time ago, YMCA Plans Dance Class A new beginning square dance class for boys and girls 10-years-old and up will be started at the YMCA on May 15. The youths will meet every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. A new YMCA youth program, the classes will be open to ali children in the community even though they do not belong to the YMCA at this time. Instructors and callers for the square dances will be Lyle and Ann Steers, who are also the instructors for the YMCA adult square dance group known as th? Y-NE-MA Twirlcrs. Guest Caller Ronnie Telford of Alturas, Calif., will be the guest caller for the Y-NE-MA Twirlers Square Dance Club on Saturday, April 27. The dance will begin at 8 p.m. in the educational wing of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Eighth and Jefferson, with a potluck supper following. All square dancers in the community are in : vited to attend. Aluminum Price Hike Foreseen PITTSBURGH (UPI) - The se lective price increases in the steel industry "will psychologically be a plus factor in favor of bettor prices" in the aluminum indus try, top officials of the Aluminum Co. of America hinted Thursday. The subject of prices was brought up at the annual stock holders meeting and during a subsequent press conference. "This cost-price squeeze re mains the single most pressing problem facing the U.S. aluminum Hidustrv," said Alcoa Chairman Frank L. Magee. has completed his initial basic military training. The nine-week indoctrination to military life includes training in seasmanship, basic military law, swimming and survival, first aid, and other naval subjects. Each recruit receives tests and interviews to determine his fu ture training and duty assign ments. A.2.C. Leonard W. Olson of Klamath Falls is being reassigned to George AFB, Calif., following his graduation from the United States Air Force technical train ing course for autopilot repair men. Airman Olson studied naviga tion, aerodynamics, hydraulics and electronics required in the inspection and maintenance of autopilot and electronic compass systems The airman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Olson, 1601 Mitchell Street, is a graduate of Klamath Union High School and attended Oregon State College in Corval lis. Army Pfc. Thomas Wl Chat burn III, whose parents live in Merrill, recently was awarded the Expert Tank Weapons badge in Germany. The badge is awarded to tank ers w ho demonstrate marked pro ficiency in firing all tank arma ment and in maneuvering the tank. The 20-year-old soldier, a driver in Troop B of the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment's First Recon naissance Squadron, entered the Army in February 1961 and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. He was graduated from Merrill High School in 1960. Day Planned At Kingsley The Kingsley Field Armed Forces Day planning committee held its first meeting in the 408th Fighter Group headquarteis building last week to receive plans for the forthcoming cele bration from Maj. Raymond G. Nelson, project officer. As last year, there will be a downtown Klamath. Falls parade on Saturday, May 18. followed by an open house on the Kingsley Field flight line. Subject to net work commitments, KOTI.TV will televise the parade live, accord ing to Dick Green, general man ager of the station. Approximately 15 aircraft from all services will be displayed at the field, w ith primary empha sis going lo a display of "Cen tury Series" aircraft the most modern fighter plane in the na tion's Air Force inventory. Further details on the day's events will be announced as they are completed. Armed Forces Day committee members at the meeting included Major Nelson, Capt. John W. Snider, assistant project officer; Maj. George H. Williams, Capt. Emil M. Korbish, and Lts. Thom as G. Hanlin, Raymond P. Con ley, John E. Curtis, Charles H. Habcrstich, Lavene C. Hayden. Maj.
