Is ' there any way to transfer to both ' suits? ' The answer to the second ques- ; tion is "No." The answer to the ' first is that responder transfers to ,one suit and then bids the other. This bid of a new suit after a transfer bid is a further forcing -bid. 'J Thus, South's two heart bid '-is the transfer to spades and his three heart bid, shows that "he has hearts also, and is a "further forcing bid. ' North just has 16 high card "points, but he notes that he may chave just the right cards for a jslam. His four diamond bid can't really be showing a dia- mond suit and must be a slam try of sorts. South rebids four hearts con- firming his two suiter and North .goes to five hearts. He does not use Blackwood because it won't do him any good to know about ;-one ace he wants to know about jSouth's club holding. Shearer, Oregon Stale University , irrigation specialist, held recently at Silver Lake. John KiesowJ county extension agent, reports that the workshop method of ex tension teaching has gained much popularity in Lake County this '. winter. During January and Febru ary an average of 65 farmers and interested agricultural busi nessmen and Forest Service per sonnel attended a five - week workshop on soils and fertilizer. The session ran for Vi hours, one day a week, and was held at Lakeview with average attend ance of 43 and at Silver Lake "with an average attendance of 22. Kicsow reports that partici pants were given an opportunity . to evaluate the course and vote "on types of workshops they "would' like for next year. With out exception participants indicat- cd they like the workshop method. H Livestock was voted number 'one on the list for next year. Fol lowing in order were farm man "element, irrigation, farm crops, grange management, taxation, and weeds.
