Baker delayed signing with the
Rams because he w as one of Ore
gon State's star basketball play
ers and wanted to play nut his
final cage season with the Bea
vers. He was the Rams' number
one draft choice. He came tn
terms with the National Football
League club for an estimated

Terms of Ihe three year pact
were not disclosed but Baker was
believed to have signed for ap
proximately $20,000 a year and a
sizeable bonus. ,
Hirsch, now assistant to Ham
President Daniel Reeves, beamed
after landing the widely - sought
Baker and said, "we have high
hopes (or him. He is a top-notch
football player and a real fine
gentleman and he's intelligent and
practical as well."

Friday night at the Fremont
School Auditorium at 7:30 for
the sign-up.
Boys who participated in the

sign-up. Ihe boys signing up are
asked lo bring their birth certifi
cates or copies of them.
Tryouts for the teams will be
at Mills Liltle League Baseball
Park April 6 7, weather permit
ting. Minor League players will
try for Major teams from 12
noon until 2:30. New boys will
organize at 1:30 and begin try
outs at 2:30.
Coaches will be present at the
sign-ups to answer any ques
tions. This sign-up is for the
City School District players only
The Suburban leagues will be
notified of their sign-up times.
There were 190 players last
year. The league starts May 31.
There is expected lo be 14 teams
in each league as things shape
