By ANN LANDERS Dear Ann Landers: Am I guil ty? Can a mother make home to comfortable for her children that they don't want to leave? My sons are 27 and 29 years old attractive. eli - educated and successful in business. They like girls. but apparently they ate too contented with things as they are to exert the energy to make homes of their own. I was left a widow when my boys were teen-agers. 1 have a steady income from my husband's estate. I'd love to move into a small apartment but the boys won't let me. They adore this house. I've told them the first one who marries can have the house as a present but nothing happens. Both of these young men have a great deal to offer a girl. I pray every night they will get married and have families of their own, but time marcnes on and here they sit. Please suggest something. ENOUGH BACHE LORHOOD ALREADY Dear Already: Sometimes the mama bird has to shove the baby birds out of the nest so they will learn to fly. Start shoving. Serve notice now that you are looking for an apartment and that they must find another place to live or engage a housekeeper who will stay In the family home with thrm. Dear Ann Landers: Is my sis ler's boy friend cheating the tele. phone company or not? I say he is. My sister says no. Will you be the judge? John works nights. He likes to call my sister every few hours just to chin. He usually calls her about 8:30 and 10:30 in the eve ning. The place where he works has only coin telephones and he can't afford the loot. So he drops the dime into the phone, lets it ring twice and hangs .up. That's the signal for her to call him back. She calls him back and they talk forever. mg because John doesn t talk on the call. All he does is signal her to call him. What's the verdict? Honest or dishonest? DIOGEN ES Dear Diogenes: It's dishonest. Telephones are instruments of communication not tigualing de vices. When you add up all the rhi elers who are trying to beat the system by signaling In a variety of ways it represents an enor mous amount of tled-up equipment for which lite company gels no revenue. Somebody has to pay for these shenanigans, and who do you think it is? You and I. Bub. Dear Ann Landers: I'm enclos ing a clipping Irom the society section of our newspaper. As you can see. six hostesses have joined hands to give a luncheon for a bride-to-be. I can understand two wom en giving a party together, parti cularly if they are related, or if one has a large home and the other has not. But six women hosting one party. Really! I know- two of these women well, a third is a casual acquaintance, and the other three have never been in side my home. I've always been taught that when one accepts an invitation he is obliged to reciprocate. Does this mean I am now indebted to six women who got together to give one parlv? Please enlight en me. LUMPED Dear Lumped: Sorry, Old Girl, but when several hostesses band together to entertain and you ac cept the Invitation, you are then obligated to each of them. If this sort of "togetherness" Irritates you, don't accept. Confidential to Torn: "What you don't know can't hurt you" is a meaningless collection of words. What you don't know ran hurt vou and plentv. Ignorance Is dangerous. Get the nnrrect In formation from your physician and stop burying your head like an ostrich. Going by appearances, they figure these big, rich-looking Mercurys must be pretty expensive. So they shop for something less. (And usually end up paying more.) This is unfortunate. For them. And us. So let's set the record straight.. .with a U.S. Government price sticker. There it is in black and white. $2834 including everything you read there. The usual qualifications about licence, tax, destina tion charges ate properly listed. No "stripped-down" price: We don't think that kind of come-on is cute, or good business. Our cars are fully dressed ...with the expected number of ash trays, sun visors and hubcaps. Of course, if you can go over $2834, we offer options like power steering and swing-away wheel; power brakes and deep pleated bucket seats. Larger engines. You can add these and other amenities of modern motoring and still stay under $3500. No warmed-over "small" car: When you buy a Monterey, you're buying an honest-to-goodncss big car.
