'Hie secreta ry, Jack Story, gave a complctei report on the crab feed and ill was voted to pay all expenses. Story estimated there were 462 people fed. There was a short discussion of the chamber's finances and the purpose of the chamber. President Cy McColgin reported he had at-; tended a meeting In Tulelake at which the possibility of forming a group, representing Tulelake, Merrill, and Malin, to promote the economy and welfare of the area was discussed. The subject of teen-agers and the lack of amusement facilities! for them in Malin was brought up, but no solution was found. Letters of thanks were received and read from Senator Morse Senator Ncuburger, Gov. II a I field, and Representative Ullman. They each expressed regret that they were unable to attend the crnb feed. The annual Easier egg hunt which the chamber sponsors, was discussed and the following tasks assigned to chamber directors: Charles Duncan and Adolph Draz II, solicit funds for purchasing eggs and prizes; Louis' Kalina, select and obtain the prizes; George Rajnus, charge of pie school group under five years of age; Dale Ho!!, charge of group' over 5 years old and pre school; Jack Story, first and sec ond grades; Larry Barbour, third and fourth grades; and James Conrny, fifth graders. All directors will he present al 10 a.m. to hide cRgs with tho assistance of Boy Scouts. Eugene Merger Opposed By Lake County Scouts LAKEVIEW - What amounts to an almost mandatory merger into an area council with head quarters at Eugene is being def initely opposed by the Lake Coun ty group of Girl Scouts, according to announcement by leaders here. Lake is one of five councils now being considered in the for mation of one large council. Rep resentatives from the five. There is now an active and ef fective local Girl Scout program which has the enthusiastic support of the community both financially and in time and effort given to to the girls. Other councils across the nation are protesting mandatory mergers because it is felt that such tight control of youth organizations is extremely dangerous.
