Edward Rolita, son of Mrs. Arline Price of Klam ath Fails, received a commenda tion and was congratulated Jan. 30 by his commanding officer, Lt. Col. It. S. Hudson at Camp Lejcunc, N.C. He was commended for out standing performance of duly. Rolita is serving with Automat ic Supply Distribution Battalion, Second Force Service Regiment. Before entering the service in January 1956, he attended Klam ath Union High School. Th U.S. Navy Recruiting Sta tion in Klamath Falls announced recently the enlistment of Virgil Duane Wood, 18, Mount Hebron, and Thomas Walter Barnes, 18, Klamath Falls. Wood, the son of William Wood, is undergoing recruit train ing at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego. He attend cd Butte Valley High School in Oorris before enlistment. Barnes is the son of Thomas C Barnes, 800 Division Street. Prior to enlisting he graduated from KU and attended OTI. After re cruit training he will enter the of the Navy's teclinical training schools. Murine L. Cpl. Leon R. Allison, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Alli son, 4305 Homedalc Koad, is serv ing with the Military Police Com pany, a unit of the First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton. He recently reonlistcd for six years. While with the company, he will complete the Military Police School which includes such sub jects as traffic control, handling of prisoners of war, straggler control, accident Investigation and criminology. Allison entered the service in October 1959 and is a graduato of Klamath Union High School. Army Pfc Gerald E. Dayley, Klamath Falls, participated in the 101st Airborne Division's Exer cise Cold Eagle at Fort Camp bell, Ky., which ended In late January. Zero temperatures, strong winds and heavy snowfall cnubled the more than 16.000 participants to test cold weather combat training while protecting themselves from severe weather conditions. Dayley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Er nie E. Dayley, Roule 2, Is a light' weapons infantryman in Company B of the division's 327th Infantry at the fort. Ho entered the Army in September Unit and completed basic training at Fort Old, Calif. Dayley was last assigned at Fort Bcnning, Ga. Dayley is a ilflK) graduate of Bonanza High School. Before entering the Army, Day ley was employed by the Weyer haeuser Timber Company. Army 2nd Lt. James M. Cornell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlo B. Cornctt, Star Route, Malin, re cently completed a four week chemical, biological and radlologl cal warfare course for officers at the Chemical Corps School, Fort McClellan, Ala. Lieutenant Cornell is a 11)53 graduate of Malin High School and a 19G0 graduate of Oregon State University in Corvallis. He is a member of Sigma Pi fralernitv. WOOD EDWARD ROLITA Five Killed In Accidents Ily United Press International Five persons lost their lives in traffic accidents in Oregon during the weekend. A prominent Vancouver, Wash, businessman was killed Sunday in a one-car crash on a Washington County road 15 miles southwest of Forest Grove. The victim was Fred Trulling- er, 89, the president of the Port land Seed Co. and Charles H. Lilly Co. of Seattle, a fertilizer distrib uting firm. His wife, daughter and housekeeper were hospitalized at Hillsboro following the crash. Gaithcr Abbey, 23, Eugene, was killed early Sunday when his car went out of control 11 miles east of Goshen on State Highway 58. State police said the car skidded and flipped into a private drive way, landing on its top. A 16-year-old Wheeler girl, Ruth Base, died late Saturday following a two-car collision on Stale High way 53 in southern Clatsop County, Eldon Mnscng, 25, and Paul Cooper, 30, both of Silverton, were killed Saturday when their car hil the end of the Little Pudding litv- or Bridge four miles northeast of Salem.
