Observe and heed the heat marker on your iron. renting it appeared in the Janu ary-February 1963 issue of "Na tional Gardener," the official bi monthly publication of the 400.000 garden clubbers in t h e United Slates. The article, written by the proj ect chairman, Mrs. Hugh O'Con nor of Klamath Falls, detailed the inception and progress of the project, and its future plans. Begun in 1S61 at the request of the Klamath Falls Park and Rec reation Department, the project embraces one and a half acres in the park, with a trail winding through the area past the bird pool which was built last year. Finances for the project came in part from Scars' grants and from money raised by the club. which holds hot dog sales, plant sales and rummage sales to ben efit it. Local groups help with work, in cluding the Boy Scouts, who, dur ing the past year, put in a total of 84 man-hours work in clearing the trail. "Future plans call for the proj ect to be used by youth groups. Golden Age groups, and bird watchers," commented Mrs. O'Connor. "We feel that the project is most worthwhile." she continued, "and hope that the people of Klamath Falls and the county will use i( freely."
