HERALD AM) Drill Team Practices At Grange Midland Grange No. 781 mee'. ing Feb. 20 in the grange hall had drill practice directed by Drill Capt. Alice Hoover, who also reported that the home ec nomics group of the grange had been asked to serve the Home Extension Festival luncheon April 25. Mrs. Hoover also reminded members to turn in their CCA slips and reported that a dance is planned for March 30 follow ing TiivinitA rTrnnrfa dinner flnrl program in the hall lor grangers and friends. Legislative Chairman Richivd1 Baldwin reported that he and James Flowers attended a tax meeting with State Master Allen Wheeler, Portland, when the stale grange opposed parts of the pro posed revised state constitution. Baldwin also reported on the proposed mosquito control and said there had been no yellow fever reported in this country since 1924. A new youth drill team Is being organized and the adult Midland Grange is again sponsor. A chor us is being organized and persons interested in singing are invited to appear at the hall for practice for a chorus. Those 14-35 years old, interested in drilling, arc invited to drill practices. A St Patrick's Dance on Saturday, March IB, is planned by grange youth, starting at 8 p.m. The first and second degrees will be exemplified March 13 at Poo Valley. Date for the third and fourth degrees will be ar ranged. Degree practices will be on Monday nights starting Marchj 4. The Juvenile Grange will have a dress rehearsal at 2;30 p.m. Feb. 24 for their degree which will be exemplified March 27 at 8 p.m. The next meeting of the Mid land Grange will be Wednesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. Subway Revolt NEW YORK (UPD-Pollce had to be called to assist transit au thorities Wednesday in putting down a brief revolt on a subway train. ."The train, with about 3,000 pas sengers aboard, developed me chanical trouble during the morn ing rush hour. 'Invalid' Robs Brooklyn Bank NEW YORK lUPli - To men pushing an "invalid" in a wheel chair entered the Bensonhurst National Bank in Brooklyn Tues day. The "invalid" suddenly threw off his lap robe and leaped upl with a shotgun trained on tellers The other two men took three bundles of cash and the three men fled. John Morris, a police men, ordered them to stop and then fired five shots at them. Morris said he believed he had wounded one of the robbers. Two bundles containing about $1,500 were dropped.
