He has had 17 fights, losing only one and drawing one. He was a brilliant Golden Glover and turned pro and has been doing well since. Ho is being groomed for a possible hot al former champion Joe Brown. Proctor is a eutie wilh a lot of ring savvy and a stylo which rauscs frustration among his op ponents. Yang of Formosa, using the filler glass pole like a sling shot broke the ciation (XCAA outdoor pole vault record Saturday with a vault of 15 feet-10'i inches. Yang's vault came on his first try at the height and eclipsed the old mark of 15-10U set by George Davies, then of Oklahoma State in 1361. Davies also used the fiber glass pole which thus far has not been accepted for inter national record competition. Vang, a member of the 16-foot pole vaulting fraternity, had banner day at the nine annual L'SC-UCLA Belay Carnival. The decathlon star, second onlv to former UCLA teammate Rafer Johnson in the 1W0 Olympics, ompeted in six events and also won the broad jump with a leap of 23 feet-P inches. He placed second in the javelin, fourth in the high jump, fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put. Ihe meet also featured a high jump of 7 feet, h inches by sophomore Lew Hoyt of Southern California, who thus became the" seventh American to reach the1 7-foot mark. The victory was the third for the season over the Wolves and it handed the NAIA Tournament bound Wolves their first lnss of the season on their own home court. That home court is what helped them to second place and into the NAIA Tournament. The Owls are ineligible to compete in post season tournaments because they aren't classified as a four- vear school. The Owls made their dash for the win with four minutes leit in the first half. They were trail ing at that point, 36-32, when they put on a spurt which found them making 17 straight points and the Wo)ves could make on,y two ,one points in the meantime so the Owls romped into a 49-M half time lead. There was another record brok en during the game. Sam Smith scorched the nets for M points to set a new OCC Icauce scoring record for one season. The Ml points cave him .12.1 points in the 14 panics thus far and snapped the old record of last year which Smith held of .120. And he still had another game to play Satur day night to further that record. Four of the five "Iron - Man Five" hit in double figures. Willie Anderson added to his total with a fine 24-point effort and Hewlett Nash had the standing-room-only crowd, about half yell ing for the Owls, buzzing with his driving shots from all angles in making 18 points.
