Nov. 16, will mark the 83rd installation of officers of the chapter, and elective officers lo be seated are Mayme Hamncr.; worthy matron: Floyd Burns, wor thy patron: Dorothy Jenott, assoc iate matron: Shirley Peters, con ductress, and Thora Sclbtrom, as sociate conductress; Effie Butler, secretary, and Lucy Van Sandt, treasurer. Appointive officers will also be seated at that time. During the good of the order, special honors and recognition were extended to Eflie Butler and Lucy Van Sandt in appreciation of their years of service to Stel la Chapter as secretary and treas urer, respectively. OVER THE GARDEN GATE "Mien on the director's tea held recently tn Mamath ralU. on lo inclement weather the location was changed to the home of Mrs. C. W. Carstens. Nine members were present for an all-day work- hop followed by the tegular meeting. Vice President Mrs. Carstens presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. Russ Enderlm Mrs. Guv Young acted as secre tary and the routine business was transacted. The dale set for the Holiday and Fall Festival is Nov. 15. Mrs. Carstens is the chairman and tliel festhai will be held at the club house, hereafter to be known as the "Viiiistle Stop." The festival will feature many new ideas tor the coming holi days and distinctive items ill be oftered for sale. The proceeds will be used to benefit the building lund in restoration of the clubhouse. Reports were given in regard to' the recent , district meeting by Mrs. Ralph Laird, by Mrs. D. report by Mrs. Robert Schluter. Mrs. C. J. Hunter stated that she wished to continue her mem bership although she would not lie living in Alturas. Mrs. Fred Ash resumed her membership af ter an absence and tliree new membt's were welcomed. Mrs. Merville Archer. Mrs. Lester Dagsen and Mrs. Phil Price. A beautiful pine erne tree, made by Mrs. H. G. Helms, is now on display at the Pacificl Light and Power office window. This tree will be given away at the festival on Nov. 15. Tickets may be obtained from any of Die garden club members. Edith Ar mour will be the chairman of this project. Mrs. C. A. Baird donated her prize money from the lnter-Moun-lain Fair to the club and the Southern Pacific Railroad sent the original stove of the building, which is now set up. courtesy of A.
