The course, which begins west ot Monmouth and ends at the foot ball stadium, measures three miles. They will compete against teams from Marshfield, Medford, North Bend, Reedsport and Eu gene, the other District 3 member schools. KU coach Adolf Faller will call upon Wayne Chamberland, Bob Crabtree, Jerry Kramer, Jerry Gospodnetich, Ben Faus, Cliff Moore, Tom Provancha and Har lan Hamaker to wear the Peli can colors. The Hawks, winners of the post season competition in the Nation al Hockey League in the 1960-61 campaign, routed the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-0 Tuesday night for their second straight victory. It was the only game sched uled, but it had these results: Moved Chicago into sole posses sion of fourth place: prevented Toronto from moving past idle Montreal into first place; gave the New York Rangers, currently deadlocked with the Leafs; an op portunity to leap into the lead to night when they meet Boston in the NHL's only game. WINS TRACK TITLE NEW YORK (UPI) James Brown of New York University won the metropolitan intercolle giate cross-country championship Tuesday with a clocking of 26 minutes, 34.2 seconds for the five mile course in Van Cortlandt Park. St. John's won the team title, 40-43, over Manhattan. Up on the Rogue River and stable on the L'mpqua summarize the reports from game commis sion lishery biologists on uie spring chinook salmon runs in these two river systems. According to Cole Rivers, fish' ery biologist at Grants Pass, the spring chinook run in the Rogue River this year reached just over 33.000 fish, one of the best runs on record for a number of years The record shows this fine spring chinook run numbered almost 100 per cent over the parent run of 1957 which was tallied over the Gold Ray dam counting boards at just under 18,700 salmon. The report indicated the spring stcelhead run in the Rogue on a par with past years, and the fall run now moving up the river appeared to be good. The fall chinook run was thought to be a little weaker than in past years On the Umpqua, Jerry Bauer, fishery agent at Roseburg, report ed the spring chinook mn over the Winchester dam totalled over 5.300 fish as of Oct. 15. Although this was a 30 per cent increase over last year, it is only 56 per cent of the parent run. The Umpqua summer stcelhead run was tallied at approximately the same number as last year and for the second straight year shows a 25 per cent increase over the runs of the previous four years Giant Great Haunts Eagles NEW YORK (AP) Frank Gifford is back to haunt the Phil adelphia Eagles. He won't don his old No. 16 jer sey for the New York Giants' cru cial game against the Eastern Conference leaders on Sunday. A jarring tackle a year ago by Eagles' linebacker Chuck Bed- narik helped him decide to lay it aside for all time. Gifford is the Giants' scout now, alter mat tacKle a clean, hard shot caused a severe con' cussion and convinced him that his playing days were over. It happened on the same Yankee Stadium gridiron where the teams wiH meet this Sunday.
