Monday when the gunman tried to! hold up his store. Police said John Vito Moise, 38, walked 'nto the Joy Greeting Card Co. with a 38-calibcr revolver in one hand an an attache case containing another gun and a long bladed knife in the other. : The store owner, Emil Fischer, S4, rebelled when Moise ordered his wife, Selma, to fill out six HOO money orders and accompa by him to a bonk. Fischer brought out his wife's coat, but instead of helping her put it on, he drew from under it a claw hammer. Fischer drew up his 5-foot-6 frame and swung the hammeri hitting the 200-pound Moise squarely on the head. Moise was felled by the blow. The extent of Fischer's conquest of the Goliath gunman was not learned until today when Moise was identified as a suspect in a Nebraska bank stickup. .' Mrs. Fischer said she certainly Mas proud of her husband. ." "But don't call us heroes." she said. "We're just glad to be: alive." Mmmk Hotel Thievery Told Police A theft of an electric razor and 17 packages of cigarettes from a local hotel room was under inves tigation Tuesday morning by Klamath Falls police. Ruth Saar, manager of the Holly Hotel, 112 South Eleventh Street, said someone entered the room of C. L. Thomas Monday afternoon and stole the razor and cigarettes. Mrs. Saar said she saw a man in the area shortly after Thomas left his room. The suspect was about five feet 10 inches tall, was light-complexioned and had a heavy build, according to Mrs. Saar.
