LT. T. HIGHLAND Lt. Highland Joins Training REESE AFB, Tex. - 1st Lt, Thomas E. Highland, son of Mr and Mrs. John T. Highland of 1316 Wlard Street, Klamath Falls, has entered United States Air Force pilot training here. Lieutenant Highland, a former1 student of Oregon State College In Corvallis, will fly T-37 and T-33 jets during the year-long flying training course. He also will re ceive special academic and mili tary training and will be award ed the silver wings of a pilot upon igraduation. The lieutenant, who entered Uic service in 1956, is a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. His wife Is the former Gloria M. Rob erts of Klamath Falls, DR. AND MRS. MIKE O'HAR RA and family, Phoenix, Ariz., are visiting Mrs. O'Harra's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Love- ness. PAISLEY MR. AND MRS. B. E. VAN WIN- DOM, Roseburg, former Paisley, residents, have been enjoying deer hunting in the area., JOE BONNARES, Paisley, was hospitalized In Lakeview Oct. 14 after he swerved his car and over turned, attempting to miss a deer which jumped out in front of him. Bonnares, who was en route to Silver Lake, is reported in good condition, despite a broken collar bone, broken vertabrae and ribs. MRS. FRANK CLORE, former ly of Willow Ranch, has been visit ing with Mr. and Mrs. Clay Law- son and Mr. and Mrs. Ashcraft. She now lives in Yakima. . ' MR. AND MRS. LOUIS SMITH of Redding visited here and hunted over the weekend. Sons Rodney and Lane came along with thslr wives. Also Gerald Smith of Red ding accompanied them. Plan Passes Malt Barley . Because a substantial part of the malting-type barley produced In the United States normally Is grown in what Is now the severe drought area, special provisions are included in the 1962 feed grain program for barley to assure ade quate supplies of this grain, ac cording to Earl Wilson, chairman, Klamath County Agricultural Sta bilization and Conservation Committee. No producer of acceptable va rieties of malting barley will be required to participate in the 1962 feed grain program as a means of qualifying for price support pro vided he has previously produced this type grain and plants barley only of an acceptable malting va ricty for harvest In 1982. Also, he must not have a barley acre age on the farm In 1962 in ex cess of 110 per cent of the averv age he had for 1959-60. . ,
