Christmas Clearing Bureau. A new plan for handling clothes for children and tor toys planned for the Christmas season this year to permit parents of chil dren to buy such items under a point system. The Christmas Clearing Bureau has aided each year in the orderly distribution of Christmas cheer to needy families. Sunday, Oct. 2!!, at Klamath Coun ty Fairgrounds. All entries must be registered by 2 p.m. to be eligible, according to Margaret Drace, secretary-treas urer. Some IS of the 21 Klamath Basin members, who are affiliated with the Oregon Barrel Racing Associ ation, Inc., have placed for points in the upcoming competition which will award the saddle and other prizes. Two Bonanza girls, Betty Vow ell and Clara Grohs, are tied with 45 points each. Final awards will be made Nov. 11 at an awards banquet and west ern style show In the Winema Ho tel. The event, which is open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. Reservations may be called to TU 4-9757 or TU 2-3252. This is another of a Herald and News series of reports on the 27 United Fund agencies. As many stories dealing with the remaining agencies will be published as time and space permit. Many people are unaware of what the VMCA really is and what it means. The letters YMCA are an abbreviation of the words Young Men's Christian As sociation. The emblem of the "Y , the red triangle represents the en tire personality mind spirit, and body. The YMCA's purpose is to develop a Christian person ality and build a Christian society working not only with men and boys but with women and girls the entire family group. In helping develop the human personality, the YMCA's program runs into many different areas. For youth we have swimming, camping, gym classes, club groups. For adults, men's and women's physical exercise classes, facilities for individual exercise, such as a handball court, weights, steam room, etc., and square! dancing classes which will begin! on Oct. 19. For the family we have the Family Night potluck din ners on the second and fourth Fri days of each month with games and movies to round out the eve ning, plus tho Friday Night fam ily swim whic'i will begin on Nov. 10. Other available activities are boys rifle classes, swimming with instruction for men, women, girls and boys as well as a class for the physically handicapped eacli Monday nignt. Boys gymi classes will include instruction on the trampoline and in tumbling. The Tri-Hi-Y and Hi-Y clubs for high school boys and girls are now meeting regularly. Be cause of limited space, dates and time for most of these activi ties have been left out but anyone interested in the schedule of events may call the YMCA. TU 4-4149 for this lnformaiton. The local YMCA is a participating agency of the United Fund and as such everyone is asked to stop In and find out more about "Y" role in the com munity. Barry, M, pioneer stockman and rancher in Klamath and Lake counties, will be Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. In Sacred Heart Church. Recitation of the Holy Rotary will be In O'Hair's Memo rial Chapel at 8 p.m. Friday. Final rites and interment will be In Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Barry died Oct. 18 at his Nell Creek Home in Ashland where he had lived for several years after leaving his ranch near Merrill. He was a native of County Cork. Ireland, born March 12, 1867. (AP) Attorneys for Dr. Robert E. Boehme, 41, moved Thursday for dismissal of the charge against him of first degree assault with intent to kill his wife. Boehme is accused of injecting poison into the arm of Dorothy Boehme on or about Sept. 20. Mrs. Boehme was admitted to a Brem erton hospital on Sept. 22 suffering partial paralysis and loss of vision. She has since recovered and has declared her faith in her husband's innocence.
