" His father was naturalized when Schallmoser was still a minor in the mid-JOs. , Schallmoser said he always list ed his father's naturalization number with a note that it was not his. "No one ever questioned it before," he said. Schallmoser won three decora tions for heroism in ' World War II. He missed getting into the Air Cadet Corps because his father had been naturalized only 9ft. . years previously, leaving Schallmoser six months short of the requirement. He served as an Infantryman in Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star. Irving Freedman of the Chicago Immigration office said Schall- moser must have his own natur alization papers. "Sure he's an American, but he needs something to prove it," Freedman said.
