Fish and game spokesmen re port that more than 320 hunters were checked through the station Saturday and 1,200 hunters were counted through by 5 o clock Sun day evening. So far the buck kill is running one buck to every six hunters checked at the station Thirty four bucks were checked on the opening Saturday last year while 39 were checked this Satur day. . They noted that of the bucks shot this year the biggest per centage has been 2-year-old deer with a great drop in the yearling buck kill. This count, of course, bears out the early report made in Modoc County in May of this year that there is an all-time low fawn count in Modoc County. They attribute this to the drought con dition that has prevailed the past few years. According to their May report there are only 40 fawns being born to 100 does. A crowd of about 20.000 is ex peeled to see the Cougars of WU go into the fray two-touchdown underdogs against the powerful! Utags, winners of two straight. The game should provide a classic contrast in football styles. Utah State plays the ball control game, using a bevv of 11 out standing halfbacks who have av eraged 5.2 yards a carry this season. Washington Slate employs the wide-open pro offense, with split ends, flankers and plenty of pass es. The Cougars tossed 34 aerials in a losing cause against Missouri last week. There may be some surprises. WSU Coach Jim Sutherland hints he may try to run more against the Utags, even though the Utah State forward wall averages 225 pounds a man and is rated one of the best in the nation.
