Photo by Kettler Parties Fete Newlyweds -J: Mr. and .Mrs. Thomas Jensrn Shaw, whose wedding was an event of Aug. 19 in Denver, were the inspiration for several affairs given in their honor during their recent visit. The young couple, just rcturnd from an Hawaiian honeymoon, were guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence L. Shaw, be fore leaving for Portland where they will make their home while the bridegroom attends Lewis and Clark College. Mrs. L. L. Shaw introduced her son's bride to her many friends at a lovely tea Sept. 7 at her home on Pacific Terrace. She used pastel decor for the tea table to complement an embroidered, open work white linen cloth brought from the Orient by Mr. and Mrs. J. Royal Shaw. Rolled pastel or gandy napkins, used at the wed ding of Mrs. Shaw's nephew, Rob ert Bryan of Bremerton, matched the centerpiece of mixed sweet peas and scabiosa. Small bridal couples and white tapers complet ed the setting. Presiding at the tea services during the afternoon were Mrs. Ralph Stearns. Mrs. Victor O'Neill, Mrs. R. P. Ellingson Jr.. Mrs. MalinOES BeginsYear MALIN A potluck dinner pre- ceded the first meeting of the year for' Prosperity Chapter, OES, with Barbara and Robert Victorin presiding in the east. Introduced and escorted were Merle Lamar, associate grand conductress, who was making her official visit, and Frances Kalina, member of the Estarl Fund Com mittee of the Grand Chapter of Oregon. In observance of Obligation Night the worthy matron read a poem as she asked all present to renew their obligations during the initiatory instructions. A clever Lucky 13 addendum written by Florence Wilson honor ing Mrs. Lamar was read by the worthy matron. Assisting star point officers were Marie Hale, Patty Schmidt, Pat Ottoman, Dor othy Hile and Jean McFall. Refreshments were served by! Helen Ann Ottoman, Bessie Cor nett and Ruth Wilson. COLORFUL CASSEROLE Here's a one-dish meal that's no trouble to make. Line cas serole with cooked corn meal. Fill center with mixture of canned chili con carne, ripe olive wedges and grated American cheese. Top with spoonfuls of corn meal and whole ripe olives. Bake about hair an-hour in moderate oven. The young newlyweds were feted Sept. 8 at an evening recep tion and Mr. and Mrs. shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellingson Jr. on Fairmont Street. Hosts with the Ellingsons were Mr. and Mrs. Greer Drew and Dr. and Mrs. John Merryman. Their decor, in autumn colors. featured arrangements of spider chrysanthemums, Holenian and Bells of Ireland. To compliment the young Mrs. Shaw, Nancy Moehl invited young friends for luncheon at the Peli can Cafe on Saturday, Sept. 9. She used the bride's wedding colors of white and Capri blue for her dec orations. The table was centered with white carnations accented with blue ribbon, flanked by white candles in silver holders. A steptv anotis corsage marked the place ot me guest of honor.
