Diced Club New Officers rtlL Thursday. September 21. 1961 PAGE A new slate of officers, installed last spring, met recently to for mulate plans for the coming sea son tar Venture Club. First eventl was the rush party held Tuesday evening. Sept. 19, at the home of Patti O'Harra, 611 Hillside Ave nue. This will be followed on Oct. 3 with a dinner at the Winema Hotel when new members will be initiated. That evening, Floyd Wynne, managing editor of the Herald and News, will speak and show slides of his recent tour ofi the Hawaiian Islands. President of Venture Club this1 year is Anna Marie Eck. She will be assisted in her duties by Patti O'Harra, vice president; Jolene Robustclli, secretary, and Gene vieve Amberg, treasurer. Venture Club is sponsored by Soroptimist Club and has a mem bership of young professional and business women between the ages of 19 and 30 years. The Klamath Falls club was chartered in 1940 and is a member of the American U Council of Venture Clubs. ; Club members, believing in theirl slogan, "Nothing Ventured Noth ing Gained, do not hesitate to give of their time and effort in many civic projects. In the past. iuch activities have included dir ecting the March of Dimes, assist ance with the TB Fund, the kid dies paradeanji bringing favors each month to the Klamailr Nurs ing Home. Tentative plans for the year call for monthly favors for the nurs ing home, sending a doll to the School for the Deaf, and giving of food staples to the Gospel Mis sion. In addition, the girls will provide a basket for a needy fam ily at Thanksgiving and Christ mas and will present $25 to a graduating senior girl in the spring. And once again in the spring will be the card party and! style show. All is not work, however, for interspersed with the commu nity service activities, social af fairs 'are planned to round out the year. J7amily TVeeJcly looks into the Important question: Landscape Course Offered The third course of the Land scape School will be offered at Corvallis on Oct. 26, 27 and 28, according to Mrs. Irene Seely, district landscape chairman. Reservations are now being made for those interested in tan ing this course. A list of the required books has been given to both the city and county libraries. The scholarship has gone three times before to young members of Klamath Lank. First to receive it was Eunice Wellman in 1955. He is a third year major in business ad ministration at the University of Oregon. Judy Esgate has enrolled this fall at Oregon State University Her scholarship was presented bv Mrs. Fanny Hedberg, chairman of the local lodge, who represented Martha Pearson, grand lodge dep uty ot bpokane. There are 10 scholarships given by the grand lodge each year. Once each four years a $2,000 award is given to one of the schol ars toward a year's study in Swe den.
