Klamath Men In Service Henry Maxwell James McGee NECKARSULM, Germany-Pfc. James E. McGee, 23, whose wife Berla lives in Willow Creek, Calif, participated in a missile firing exercise with other personnel from the 46th Artillery Group. McGee, who arrived overseas in June, entered the Army in 1959. He is a 1936 graduate of Klamath Union High School and attended Shasta College in Red ding. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. McGee of Bly. H. Vender Weg FORT RILEY, Kan.-Pvt. Har old J. Vander Weg Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brimmer of Dor ris, is one of over 1,700 men re cently assigned to the First In fantry at Fort Riley. Vander Weg is a tank crew man and entered the Army last June. He is a 1961 graduate of Butte Valley High School. Richard Allen FORT ORD-Pvt. Richard C. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. How ard C. Allen of Klamath Falls, completed the food service course here Sept. 1. He entered the Army last October and completed basic training at Fort Old. He is 1959 graduate of Klamath Union High School and had been em ployed by the Monarch Tire Serv- Laahs Promoted William Laahs, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Laahs, 1324 Wilford Avenue, was recently promoted to major in the United States Air Force, according to his parents Major Laahs is a 1939 gradual c of Klamath Union High School 'and has been in the service since 1943. For the past five years he has served as a navigator aboard a B-52 bomber under Strategic Air Command. Historical Trip Ready Members of the Klamath County Historical Society have invited oth er interested persons to make a trip to Pot Hole Springs in Cali fornia, Sunday, Sept. 24. The group will visit the grave of Lloyd Dean Shook, buried more than 100 years ago. The trip will be led by Devere and Helen Helfrich whose grand son, Mark Runnels, found the grave. Those planning to make the trip will meet in front of the court house at 8 a.m. Stops at other his torical spots will be made en route including the old Chinese rock wall. This will be an all-day trip. Take a sack lunch.
