I.AKI CLUB Thirty one women were present for the last regular meeting of Mt. Laki Garden Club at the home of Carolyn Kelly on Home dale Road. Mrs. Myrtle Fleming, president, welcomed as guests Mrs. Steve Moss of Northsidc Garden Club, Mrs. Joe Bramhall, Mrs. Frieda Huck and Mrs. Edna Bowen, all pf Klamath Falls, and Ruth Pat ten of Marietta. Ohio. The latter' is a sister of Mrs. Jay Fairclo. The president read an interest ing theme entitled "In What We Believe As Members." She urged all members to be thinking ol the forthcoming district meeting, which has been postponed from April 13 to April 27. All displays must be made of dry wood and can be combined with flowers. Crystcl Cheyne and Alice Nyhart volunteered to make table decorations to be used at the meeting. The deadline date for the flow er garden serapbook is April 13. Members were asked to write essays on their experience in the care and growing of lilies and to decide which flower they wish to study the coming year. Ideas for the new year book are requested, too. Members are asked to save ; coffee bands lor the purchase of a coffeemaker. Ethel Rylander presented the jj club with a lovely greeting card from her daughter in Ethiopia ! which was painted by a native of that country. Ruby While and Crystcl Cheyne i gave interesting reports on the adaptability and conservation of trees in this area. Following the meeting refresh ments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Scott McKendrce and Mrs. Lloyd Seely attended the recent board meeting of the Klamath Garden Club District, held at the home of Mrs. Loyal Loveness near Malin. Mrs. Fcrguron is the president of the Juniper Garden Club, Mrs. McKendree is a member of the Budget Committee and chairman of the Jud.'es Council for the Klamath District, and Mrs. Seely is the landscape chairman. "Mrs. McKendree attended the meeting of the state board of di rectors in Portland on March 7 as the guest of the president of the State Federation of Garden Clubs. Mrs. Verne Bradcr. In 1953, slie became a deputy clerk, under the late county clerk. Wal do Smith. In recognition of her abilities ana professional integri ty, the Siskiyou County Board o( Supervisors appointed her to the position of county clerk at the time of Mr Smith's death in 1957. assuming her duties on Oct. 15 of that year. Huntsman, honorary life member ship chairman, made the presentation. Mrs. Hebard has taught school in Siskivou County since 1929, 17 of those years in Yrdka. One and a half yea.s of her teaching ca reer was in Wisconsin, prior to her marriage. A graduate of Teachers Normal School in Ladysmith, Wis., Mrs. Hebard has also attended numer ous colleges in California. She is the wife ol Clyde Hebard, re- pa Gamma an international hon orary society for women educat ors. She also holds membership with the Siskiyou County Histor ical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary, of which she is a past president. PICKLES tour. A board meeting will probably be called on April 14 to discuss Juniper's plans for the coming district meeting, ' when the club will be responsible for setting up the educational section of the show.
