BETA PHI CHAPTER
The Beta Phi Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi held twn meetings in
the month of February.
The tirst meeting reb. 7 viu
at the home of Jean Bingham.
A short business meeting was
held. Rita Backa was chosen prin
cess to represent the chapter at
the Valentine Ball held at Reames
Feb. 18.
Shirley Bissell reported on the
hospital meeting. The American
Cancer Society provided a film
which was shown to the group.
The title of the film was "Living
Insurance.
Program for the evening was
presented by Joanne Gestvang.
Her topic was "Nature's Land
scape Irom the book Beauty.
She also showed a film entitled
'This Is Oregon."
Nominating Committee mem
bers selected are Aura Mitchell,
Shirley Bissell, Lillian Hayden,
Lois Egger and Jean Bingham.
A handkerchief and earring par
ty was held for Ruth Drewniany,
who is moving to another community.
Refreshments were served bv
the co-hostesses, Lois Egger and
Pat Lukes.
The second meeting was held
Feb. 21 at the home of Marge
Seutter.
After a short business meeting.
Ena Rodgers presented her pro
gram from the book "Beauty."
Her topic was entitled "The Art
ist's Landscape." Ena Rodgers
introduced her guest, Joan How
ard, an artist who showed sam
ples of her work, and explained
how she became interested in I
painting, tools needed to paint,
and answered questions on the
subject.
Visiting guest for the evening
was Helen Pop, of the Xi Mu
Chapter in Medford.
Refreshments were served by
co-hostesses Rita Backa and Aura
Mitchell.
BRIDGE PLAY
WINNERS TOLD
Twelve tables were in play at
the Thursday evening, March 2,
session of the Lakeshore Dupli
cate Club at the City Library.
North-south first place winners
were Dr. Irving Cater and Chuck
Bateman. John Lake and George
McClary were second, and Mrs.
Lloyd Gohle and Mrs. Leona Rob
ertson tied with Mrs. Harold
Cloake and Mrs. Iuis Serruys
for third and fourth places.
Mrs. Grace Kresse and Mrs
V. C. Rexford were first in the
east-west position. In second place
were Dr. and Mrs. Seth Kerron.
Mrs. Robert Sproat and Mrs. Dol
man Schaeffer were third.

A VISITOR to Klamath Falls this week was Mrs. G. B.
(Eleanor) Kirkpatrick of Portland. As area supervisor of
Welcome Wagon hostesses in Oregon and a part of
Washington, she came to this city to meet with Mrs.
Violet Koehn, hostess for Klamath County. Mrs. Kirk
patrick stated there are 60 hostesses now serving in Ore
gon, 25 of these in the Portland area. Welcome Wagon
activities include greeting new families, new babies, and

Mrs. Ross, formerly Carolyn
Cooney, became a bride recently

The March 6 meeting of Job's
Daughters. Bethel 61, held at the
Scottish Rite Temple was conduct
ed by Honored Queen Carolyn
Osburn, with Mrs. Bettie Ball,
guardian, and Gus Vlahos, asso
ciate guardian; in attendance.
Honorary members included
Charles B. Licb, calvary com
mander, and Frank McCornack,
watchman of the shepherds of
White Shrine, who announced
April 1 as the date of installa
tion of officers of the Shrine.
The "Roaring Twenties" will be
the theme of the spring dance,
plans (or which will be discussed
at the council meeting Monday,
March 13, at 8 p.m. at the home
of Mrs. Ball. 855 Eldorado.
