Miller-Williams Studio Photo Sentiment For Industry Is Better SALEM AP The public atti tude toward Oregon industrial de velopment is much improved, committee of the state Depart-i ment of Planning and Develop ment said Thursday. Committee' members made the survey among top executives of Oregon industry to aid the depart ment in the future development. They also approved resolutions to increase the present trend to-i ward improving the climate fori all business, and to oppose the use of public funds lor private low interest capital to draw new industry. Many states, they said, are of fering tax concessions for as long 10 years to draw new indus tries to their areas. Some even are setting up public funds to pro vide loans to draw new industry with interest rates as low as two per cent a year. Erickson. district director of the Internal Revenue Service for the state of Oregon, cautions all federal income taxpayers that they must report income from several sources which are not re ported on their W-2 withholding tax certificates. "Sources of taxable income," he pointed out, "include part time work, dividends, interest on savings accounts, tips or other gratuities and several other forms of income." Taxpayers who fail to report such taxable income," Erickson warned, "may be subject to penalties and interest." "Taxpayers should check their sources of income against the in struction booklet or the appropri ate tax guide to determine wheth er specific items should be re ported," Erickson said.
